Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

I dont understand the point of buying these new. You can get a clean, recent low mileage used for thousands less, and these hold up, so the few extra miles aren't going to mean much.

More details of what I mean...

Some ppl just don't like used because it means ppl "used" the car and its "used."😄. Maybe they had called bad experience buying used and/or just prefer brand new. I think that's understandable.

I personally dont care. But these days there seems to be so many shady sellers whether it's Facebook/Craigslist, dealers or someone you think you can trust.

Not a "deal." Not "slick." About what this Mazda should be selling for. Can get a 2024 Corolla Cross or RAV-4 in the same range, with better mileage, and the rock solid dependability of Toyota. Hell, the RAV-4 is even LESS expensive.

But I guess if someone is just jonesing for a Mazda, this could be a deal for that guy.
The CX-5 has a much nicer interior, is more fun to drive, and has better reliability. You've obviously never driven or been inside one.

I am generally not a fan of these crossovers but for my wife we got one VW Atlas during Covid. I did test drive cx9 and I have to say it's chassis and suspension was a piece of art I mean in its own class.i am a very picky customers about cars. But engine and transmission was a disaster. So much Turbo lag very confusing and slow transmission. Atlas was way better in this regard. Just avoid the v6 on it. It was way heavy on noise and was making understeer of the car worse significantly .and honesty except the noise it was worse than the 2.0. I assumes its smaller brother should be similar.if you have to buy a small crossover (jacked up station) BMW x3 has the best performance reliability for your money. My older wife x3 was one of the best cars that I had. Has 250k miles in it everything original except brake rotors and honestly handles better than some of the so called sporty cars in the market and is fun on track

Correct. I owned a CX5 and CX9, I then moved to Subaru because of snow driving and roomier interior. I love Mazda handling and feel. Never had problems with both car. Most people just swear loyalty to a brand and diss others without ever experience it. RAV4 drives like an old man car and still is.

I bought a CX5 Carbon Edition with red leather seats $1200 under MSRP in April. I'm quite happy with the car. Interior is beautiful. The only thing that threw me off was the radio screen isn't touchscreen. I quickly got used to the controls and honestly it's nice. I don't have to worry about touch going bad.

People need to realize that unlike the OTD price of the car, no 2 people will come outta that finance office with the same deal on the SAME identical car. The FICO score of each individual and the negotiation skill, and the mood of the finance officer will determine the final outcome of the deal.

Before going out shopping your next new car, make sure you've watched plenty of Kevin Hunter the homework guy on YouTube!

This is a slick deal, helped a friend buy one at 28k (2023 base) and for the price can't beat it.

Because 0% when rates are 6-10% depending on your credit equals THOUSANDS over the life of a 60 month loan. Brand new $28,800 for 0% is about the same as buying a used one for $23,000 with a 6% rate. Total cost of ownership is almost exactly the same.
YMMV because you'll need to keep extra insurance for the life of the loan. Can be a good deal, but do the math to make sure you're actually saving 5-6%.

I would argue the deal is 0% apr. The worker there didn't even know about it, bought it during black Friday and was stuck with 4% APR which can easily translate to a few extra hundred monthly
Financing 40K for 60 mo at 4% = approx. $736 per mo
Financing 40K for 60 mo at 0% =approx. $666 per mo
$70 difference per mo pmt X 60 mo = $4200 in interest savings (savings only fully realized it the loan if not paid off early)
Sometimes manufactures will have a program where the consumer can choose zero (or some below market) interest rate OR have a consumer "rebate" applied to the purchase agreement, usually disclosed on the contract as a part of the down payment under a "rebate" line. That allows cash buyers or folks with outside financing to still benefit from the incentive program. Manufactures may also offer a direct incentive to the dealer that will allow the dealer to sell the car below their original invoice cost and still make a profit. The consumer is usually aware of the low interest programs but may not know about the other promotions the manufacture offer to the dealers.

They had 0% for 36 months + 10% off MSRP when closing out CX-9s this spring… And CX-90s are trending in the same direction, since they are having trouble moving them.
I don't know where you are pulling these numbers from

"IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 1, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported total November sales of 27,715 vehicles, an increase of 3 percent compared to November 2022. Year-to-date sales totaled 323,836 vehicles; an increase of 21 percent compared to the same time last year."

I've got a 2017 and it still looks pretty much the same? You don't have to get the awd version it appears?

Really? Much bigger inside too?
I would say test drive both and make the decision yourself. But I've driven both for a long period of time and prefer the CX-5. The CX-50 is much louder from the cabin and also the cabin space seem to be smaller. In my opinion, the inside of the CX-50 is more plastic. Also, the CX-5 is made in Japan and the CX-50 is built in Alabama. Overall, CX-5 is much better than the CX-50 in my opinion but the CX-50 has a edge on looks.
