I got Pixel6a a year ago in a similar deal from Mint. Even though Mint claimed that phone is locked, I tried inserting a sim from an INTL carrier and it worked. When I called Mint after 12 months then they told me that Google phones are not locked so there is no need to unlock.
I am not sure about 7pro but mine 6a was unlocked from the day I received.
Ported my number to Google Voice many years ago, been using Mint most of those years as a "new customer" by getting a new number each time and setting GV to forward calls to the new number each time (a few quick taps in the GV app does it). This time I'll have to get my own number somewhere else to port in ($3 by setting up a new Google account & porting that out is my most likely path), but everything else is the same.

I look like a new account to Mint each time by using Gmail's "plus sign" feature whereby you insert some random text preceded by a plus sign right before the @ in your email address and that extra stuff looks like a different address to Mint, but Gmail ignores it. For example:

[email protected]

Looks unique to Mint, but still gets processed to the [email protected] address by Google. I often use the company and date for the random text to ensure it's unique, so I'd have:

[email protected]
Last year during the big Mint sale I got this phone and ported our numbers over. I'm a fan of the phone (no fingerprint issues) and Mint's pricing, but beware there are known MMS issues the Pixel 7 Pro on Mint that are not fixed after over a year.

Texting via group texts sometimes doesn't go through (or come through) and sending pictures via text just don't work. After troubleshooting for a year with support and reddit forums, there still isn't a fix. It got better after switching the APN and found one that works OK, but it's never consistent.

Just a warning to anyone considering the switch.

Any idea what is the longest I can wait to activate this, whilst still being eligible for this promotion post purchase?
I'm prepaid into an annual contract for next 6 months 😅.

Anyone actually able to check out?

I get this:
Sorry, we do not have enough "Google Pixel 7 Pro (Locked) - Black, 128GB" in stock to fulfill your order (0 available). We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
"Google Pixel 7 Pro (Locked)" has been added to your cart.

But checkout doesn't work.

Then this:
There are some issues with the items in your cart. Please go back to the cart page and resolve these issues before checking out.
Return to cart
I got hung up on the cart and again on the place order screen but eventually got it to go through just now. Keep trying!

Thanks. Can you port a T-Mobile number to Mint? I think I saw a comment somewhere on the lines of "port in from certain carriers"

Yes, I have done this. You canalso activate the plan on another phone if wanted, you MUST port a number to get the 12months. Otherwise it will be 6.
Wait, are you saying I can get the phone and the 6 month plan for this price without porting my number?

So little data points on whether an existing mint customer can port out for a few days and bring the number back to be able to use the 12 months from this promo.

If I have an active mint sim, can I just put it in and start using this phone?

Mine was cancelled too, not sure why…
On my second order now when they came back in stock for 2 minutes. This time tried direct using my credit card same thing with the checking things email and no i fo on order status page. Called credit cars no block and procesaing ok. Called mint, they said its my bank again. Said i was on with my bank they said its fine. Mint rep went to talk to the "back office " who then said they now see my bank said ok and they are processing the order and to wait up to 5 days . Let me hold my breath. One thing I did notice that they said was fine on their system was that my billing address zipcode, that i know i entered correctly, took on the zipcode of my shipping address so their system is messed using alternate shipping addresses.
