The bass player in the band I'm in has the "vintage modified" version of this bass that predated the classic vide. It actually had a real Rosewood Fretboard. He loves that bass despite having super high end basses as well.

My son actually has the Affinity Series Jaguar bass. It was his first guitar. We were in the guitar shop (Truetone Music in Santa Monica) to pick out a bass, and I asked them to get the Gretsch for him to try (30" short scale, as opposed to the Jaguar's 32" scale) but the shop keeper handed him the Affinity Jaguar while he went off to find the Gretsch and that was that. My kid fell in love. That being said, there is a reason the Affinity line is cheaper than the Classic Vibe. ($250 is the regular price.) The body is thinner, made of poplar, and weighs less, which means serious neck dive. The nut is synthetic (plastic). The tuners are cheap. The single humbucker pickup is ceramic, not alnico. And as far as QC - the finish on the body is nice, but my son's had some serious fret sprout to be addressed, something I've noticed about most of the Affinity line. I would say if you're going to pay full price for an instrument, go to your local shop and try it out and find one you connect with, instead of buying it online. Plus the independent shops really need our support.

Same here, minus the high end basses. Got it as my first, and love it.

The Classic Vibe series is much nicer. It's a different level of quality.

Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe are pretty similar in quality and offered simultaneously but with different intents. classic vibe is as similar to the old specs as possible, whereas VM will instead make tweaks to the configuration to make it a more modern spin on the original.

How does this one compare to the Squier Classic Vibe Mustang (30")? Anyone know? I'm upgrading from the Mikro (28.6") and had been eyeing the Mustang. Thanks!
