As others have pointed out, it's the downside of the small form factor.

But the 4070 is a very energy efficient chip that can reach approximately 85% of its potential performance running at 65 watts instead of 125 watts. To run system substantially cooler you can just choose a lower performance mode or manually adjust things in G-helper.

For example I have the (even smaller) Asus Z13 ACRNM with the 4070 which runs at just 50 watts with 15 watts dynamic boost and the Timespy graphics score is 85% of a completely uncapped 4070 mobile system.

Regarding the 4060, paradoxically you may find that the 4070 actually runs cooler. This is because Asus has not changed the power limits between these two versions of the G14 but the 4070 can achieve the same performance as the 4060 at lower power. Given the choice between 4050, 4060, and 4070, the 4070 has the best power / performance curve.

I have the 4080 version and see temps approach 80C (CPU and GPU) playing Cyberpunk with pretty high settings. I wouldnt call this hot for a laptop at all. Especially at this form factor. 95C+ is where Id start worrying.

But it's 4800MHz. Adding more ram with faster speed, it will still be 4800MHz.

Good deal but after seeing the 2024 OLED models, I'd wait for those to release.

Why was the screen spec changed from the original post's QHD+ to the current QHD? AFAIK, there is no QHD screen option from Asus for this model, and a check of the exact model number on the Asus website confirms this (the spec from Asus is QHD+).

The last day to return the 4060 was last Saturday for me. I'll just stick to the 4060, have had no issues.

I have 4060 version and it's not hot.
Not under normal use. Only when gaming. You can feel the heat on the top keyboard deck. Not unbearable. A sacrifice for small form factor.

I loved mine. I added a stick of 16gb, totaled 32gb now. I changed the wifi card to intel 6e AX wireless adapter.

If I was in the market for a gaming laptop, this one would be on the short list. It checks most of the boxes for me. And I would finally have a better gaming laptop than my wife (who has an older Zephyrus G14 model), lol.

Something better will undoubtedly arrive later this year. However, if you're looking for a very good gaming laptop right now, give this one a good look.

Would rep the Good Doctor for this listing, but SD says I have to spread the wealth around before I can do so.

Wonder if the new OLED screen will cause a big reduction in battery life.

Anything with 4800mhz would be good enough. Any faster, you are wasting money as this only go up to 4800mhz.

It's built in with 16GB of ram. I personally would get 16gb as anything more is overkill for the machine. 32GB is solid.

Now we know what those internals in a laptop really cost, and how much is just paying for the design. Smilie

OLED is known for improving battery life, not reducing it

It will probably improve, as the pixels can turn off in dark scenes. Conversely, mini LED typically reduces battery life, because you're adding another lighting array on top of the normal screen.
