I bought this laptop on black friday for the 979.99 Price. For 90% of people this is the best deal for a 4070 laptop. It's far from perfect but it's very good for the price.
I have played Hogwarts Legacy, Palworld, and a few other games with no problems and good results as far as fan noise and computer performence. Since then, when I saw this post, I bought a second one for my brother who needed a new gaming laptop.
The track pad is good and smooth with great responsiveness. The screen is very good picture and I've had no issues with it's quality or defects. I hate the freaking backlit keyboard. actual typing is fine, but the brightness options for the backlight are bright, really bright, and off. Its a small issue since i don't really look to type, but it is an annoyence I haven't found a solution for. The speakers are crap but usable, however this is unforunately very common for laptop speakers. It is running ddr4, but unless you are doing something other then playing games or what I would call normal consumer use with this laptop you will not notice a difference between ddr4 and ddr5. For all standard users I would recommend this laptop as new graphics cards probably aren't coming to laptops till q1 2025. This is due to the switch to ddr7 for graphics cards, so I'll link some articles below.
If you are doing Graphic design, autoCad, or some other more intensive, uses this is not the laptop for you. The fans will get loud from the constant pounding. The ddr4 to ddr5 will make a difference however large or small in your use case. The thermals are good for a laptop, but the fan noise can get a little loud even in gaming, so the constant pressure of these heavier workloads will probably lead to coil whine down the road. There will be other deals in the future that are better for your needs.
I don't get why this laptop is recieving so much hate here. This is a deal, and probably the best deal available right now. However I almost posted this because I didn't see it posted yet and it has a zero score.
Maybe someone else can tell me why they don't like it but my experience overall has been good. Sorry for the very long post.

Then, I ordered an open box for this one before the sale and just got it price matched for 943.39 total.
So assuming they both come in excellent condition like the open box states then which one? Still not a fan of the DDR4.
Also, have an a15 4050 I got for $899 from Asus directly. The website said 4070 so that one is going back unless they can wiggle a good bit on that price.

I'm able to get 165+ frames per second playing starfield on ultra setting
The machine does get hot. The CPU is the bottleneck as it hits 98C temperature.
Otherwise, this machine is a beast.
Uninstall armory crate and install ghelper. You'll have no problems using the laptop in fan silent mode with dGPU disabled for most everyday tasks.
I've stopped using my i7 gen 11 cpu + RTX3060ti Dell xps 8940 desktop because this laptop performs better
The DC power supply brick provides up to 240W. It has two usb-c; one of the ports supports up to 100W PD.
It can handle powering my Samsung G9 49 inch monitor with no problems.
I bought mine open box for $905 before tax
