89C has legs instead of a pedestal stand, otherwise identical.

I've had this TV for about 7 weeks or so now. Great TV, but just got a stuck-on pixel dead center. Tried all of the stuck pixel tricks, pixel refresh, etc. It's still there. Not too noticeable in most shows, but of course now my eye is always looking for it.

Absolutely this. It's competes with the C3 so getting it for less than the B3 is a steal. It's effectively the same TV as the S90C.

DV and HDR10+ are comparable in video quality, but not in content availability. It's not even close, really. HDR10 is widely available, and a decent alternative to DV, but there's a reason HDR10+ was introduced. Dynamic metadata HDR is simply better. Whether it's a big enough difference to warrant not buying a TV is probably down to how picky you are with picture quality. Many people would say it's not worth skipping the Samsung OLEDs for, but people acting like others have no business disliking the fact that DV isn't on here are silly. Both valid points of view.

Well, explained another way, the LG doesn't even have a big enough color space to SHOW YOU, the Dolby Vision encoded colors. What use is dolby vision then?

That white pixel can make highlights brighter, but it desaturates around 2-300nits, after which all highlight starts to whiteout. The Samsung colors go from 1 end to the other, HOT. The difference in color volume is ENORMOUS.

Hey folks, what is the failure rate on this TV ? Is the 5 yr Best Buy warranty a very smart move or a waste of money? If yes, there is a better warranty to purchase ? I usually don't buy any warranty on things, but maybe this is different ?

For everyone saying buying from Samsung is a pain in the butt, can't you just do pickup at a Best Buy? Doesn't that ease some of the inconveniences, even with returns?
Note, this is a large TV that doesn't even fit in the back of my large SUV. Delivery for this guy.

Hard pass. Samsung uses triangle pixel structure so on screen text is janky as hell. Not to mention it eats double the electricity of an LG.IN
Plus, QD-OLED burns in like crazy. I had a friend return their 2022 model 3 times. So i wouldn't recommend QD-OLED as a monitor. I heard the same about the sony QD-OLED and the alianware QD-OLED monitors.

I would have to see rtings burn-in review of the 2023 QD-OLED panels before recommend them.

My 3 C3's haven't burned in yet. So i highly recommend them as a monitor. Or maybe a G3 if you want something brighter.

If you want warranty, you might as well get the Costco version for $2000-2300. They're way easier to deal with. The 5 year is 420 something from BB.

I have had an LG Oled since 2017-2018 back when they came with the built in Dolby Sound Bar. No burn in issues at all. I wish people would get over the burn in stuff. If that happens to any of us its just bad luck.

Here is the deal on the S89C. It is not just a BestBuy exclusive S90C. Unlike the Samsung S90C and the S95C which use QD OLED panels made by Samsung display, the S89C uses an LG WRGB OLED panel.

Conclusion, the S89C is a C3 that gets the Samsung's treatment (processing, smartTV interface, ecosystem, etc.)

Here is the press release...

Last year, Samsung signed a historic deal with LG Display for its OLED TVs. Samsung's TV division decided to use LG Display's WRGB OLED panels in some of its OLED TVs, and that is a huge deal, as the two companies have been adversaries for a few decades. Now, they appear to have extended their deal.

Samsung may use LG's OLED panels in its TVs for at least five years
DigiTimes reports that Samsung has signed a five-year deal with LG Display. Samsung DX, the division of Samsung Electronics that makes and sells TVs, will reportedly use LG Display's WRGB OLED panels in some of its TVs for at least five years. While Samsung Display, the company's display panel manufacturing unit, also makes QD-OLED panels, it doesn't have as many panel size options as LG Display does. So, to fill up the gap that Samsung Display can't fulfill right now, Samsung DX is using LG's OLED panels.
Cruise through the comment section on this thread. It has been reported falsely. This is for European models only of this TV. This TV DOES use a QD-OLED panel.

Urgent UPDATE: Hey everyone — I report on the S89C being a WRGB OLED because DT reported it as such based on press releases we were given. I'm hearing that is is supposedly actually QD-OLED. I will verify with Samsung immediately and provide conclusive guidance here as soon as I hear back. I am extremely frustrated by this situation and vow to get to the bottom of it, but if I am mistaken A. I apologize and B. I hope you can understand the confusion around this. Look, if I am confused, then a LOT of folks are confused. *OG post: What's up everybody! Great to see ya here. Thanks for all the fireplace feedback and helpful comments about audio dropouts! I heard back from Nakamichi and there's a lot there but it looks like certain HDMI cables are causing issues. More details in this pinned comment later. I'm on the go but I'll update soon!

"The Samsung S89C is a high-end 4k TV in Samsung's 2023 lineup and is a variant of the Samsung S90C OLED. It is currently a Best Buy exclusive and is only sold in a 77-inch format. It has the same features as the S90C, like a QD-OLED panel, promising some of the brightest and most vibrant colors available on a TV. It has Samsung's LaserSlim Design, Neural Quantum Processor 4k AI upscaling with Quantum HDR OLED technology, and Motion Xcelerator Turbo Pro for enhanced motion processing. "

Got it!

I took the update of 2 days ago as a confirmation of the issue.

Just went to Best Buy hoping to check this tv out in person. No luck. Just 1 box on the floor ready to take home.

Sales lady said that the S89C was a Black Friday Best Buy exclusive that uses extra parts from other models and that even if there was a display model, the one in the box could possibly look different. 😂 Also said there was 2 HDMI different from the S90C and only 1 was 4K. Sounds like she was hoping I wouldn't buy it or has no idea what she was talking about. LOL

It's literally a panel made by LG.

Doesn't surprise me. Best Buy is terrible to deal with. It's one of the reasons I am still torn on picking this up.
