89C has legs instead of a pedestal stand, otherwise identical.

I've had this TV for about 7 weeks or so now. Great TV, but just got a stuck-on pixel dead center. Tried all of the stuck pixel tricks, pixel refresh, etc. It's still there. Not too noticeable in most shows, but of course now my eye is always looking for it.

Absolutely this. It's competes with the C3 so getting it for less than the B3 is a steal. It's effectively the same TV as the S90C.

This or 83 inch direct from Samsung for 300 to 400 more? Woled vs qd oled isn't a concern for me personally. Slightly dimmer seems to be the only difference.

An 83 inch is about 16% bigger than a 77 inch mathematically speaking. About 5 inches wider and 2.75 inches taller. I was initially going to get an 83 inch but the combination of $$ saving plus getting a nicer screen pushed me to the 77 inch. Really to each their own though.

Thanks almost bought this at $1999 but as soon as it dropped to $1799 bought it on Friday morning and hubby picked up on his truck on Friday night (the store sold all available on Friday). You will probably need a truck it really is too big for a car. It is worth it for $20 delivery if you don't have a truck. This is probably common sense, but this Tv is so much larger than other ones. In the past my 60 ish husband could unload and mount a 65 inch on his own. You will really need a second strong guy to help out on this one. It didn't fit on our last 65 inch mounting so we or ordering a new mount. For right now it is set up on the Tv stand with legs and the TV is amazing. I was worried it would be to big from room but it is the perfect size and better than the 65 inch.

Got ours before Christmas, this is a no brainer at this price.
Same here and agree about no brainer part.
Only thing that sucks about this is that my non-paid BB account would not price protect/Price match to $1799. I paid $1999. I still love the TV but anyways to get $200 back from BB?

So I purchased this tv around Christmas/New Years and have been very happy with it....

Read on several sites that out of the box the settings on the S89C are significantly poorer than the S90C or greater model. Not knowing what I purchased, other than following the suggestions of others here that it was a quality TV at around the 2k mark, I pulled the trigger since our old tv stopped working. So my questions, does anyone have any direct links to sites or direction they can share that relate to configuring the picture for best results. I was referred to the 'settings' that Rtings used when testing the TV and to be honest, dont think they are better than the presets. Simply said, trying to ensure I have generally the most appropriate settings configured for best image quality...

Curious if anyone has found any modifications that improve picture quality. TIA

One other question, has anyone had any success with taking the leg stands off after putting them on? I read the instructions and it said "reverse the installation steps"... so imagine they don't have a release button or anything I need to push before sliding them off?

We waited for the Proper Mounting Kit and Screws to arrive (pay attention to screw length if your going to mount) and used the legs/stands... now now want to wall mount it but the size of the tv coupled with how thin it is leaves us nervous to apply any pressure...

Thanks in advance!

There's been alot of back and forth on Dolby vision on the forum, and it actually seems like many people don't even know what Dolby vision is. Yet, they must have it.

So, here's an explanation.

Video files are broken up into color, chroma, and luma, brightness pixel values.

For 4K video files (broadcast, streaming, bluray), the Luma is 3840x2160 size, Chroma is 1920x1080. This is known as 4:2:0 encoding, it saves a little bit of storage space, because the human eye is not very sensitive to high frequency color information, whereas it's very sensitive to the Luma, high frequency brightness information.

DOLBY VISION, assuming Full-Enhancement-Layer, is an extra layer of 1920x1080 parity information which is typically only used to retain more gradation on peak-specular-highlights, very bright pixel values. So, in a middle to darker scene, there's 0% dolby vision, it's not there, the dolby vision layer has 0 information in that scene.

Dolby vision Minimum-Enhancement-Layer (most streaming DV content), is just a tiny text file that tells the TV the brightness of the frames for tone-mapping purposes, there's no enhanced visual video information at all.

In either case, the parity file is completely 100% USELESS, from the consumer point of view.

That extra layer (typically) is set to hundreds of nits+, so it only affects peak highlights. When your eye views very bright highlights, it is not sensitive to such small texture differences. If you pause the scene walk up with your nose touching the screen, and squint really hard, wait for your retina to adjust, you might see a tiny bit of extra fluffiness, but at a distance, while the image is moving, YOU WILL NOT SEE IT.

So, for all practical purposes, if you truly want to Experience_Dolby_Vision.
Sit 1 inch away from your TV, and pause every scene with bright highlights, and stare at it for 30 seconds while paused.
For a decade, they were fighting that OLED is very bad. Buy no-OLED Samsung TVs. They posted this kind of -ve comments against OLED TVs for a decade.
Then they said, Samsung TVs has the best reflective coatings amongst all TVS.
Then Samsun joined OLED TV world, now they are all good with OLED Samsung TVs.

Now there is so much Dolby Vision content is there, they started throwing jumbo-mumbo to degrade Dolby Vision itself. It is their pattern.

Movie studios and ocntent makers are stupid to pay License to use DV. Huh Smilie

I wondered about that as well, but I'd be curious if they would've even done it since you probably got the free soundbar like I did. I could see them saying it was a package deal and declining it. Not saying it's right, just saying these retailers will use any out they can.

I saw the TV size comparison in person and I have to say 77 and 83 is very noticeable. Not sure why but now all TV below 65" looks so small now.

$100 more over the 5 years (guesstimate obviously) you might own it? I'd say it's worth it.

I think Matt is asking if the B3 is worth $100 more. To that question, RTINGS.com would definitely say "no". The 89C is rated higher in every category than the B3 AND it's $100 cheaper at BB.

The bezel size is part of the why. Very old 65in TV had 65in of display panel plus another 5 to 4 inches of bezel. The new 77in TVs have 1 in or less of bezel, same with the new 65in TVs making them looks as if they are smaller than you are used to.

It is very noticable, a good friend of mine has an 83" lg and I was debating going larger, there's deals on 98 and 100 tv's right now but the picture quality of this is so good i just can't return it.

Excellent deal, surprised it's still up. I have a c1 of this size back home that would unfortunately cost $500 to ship to where I live now. Or…

I was able to take a 77" Sony OLED home in the box in my ford escape. Was a very tight fit, and I had to leave the tailgate open a bit - and just drive slow. Luckily I only had a few miles to go

Many experts and reviewers agree that it's hard to tell a difference and sometimes DV looks worse .

Oled vs LED is a different tech way different looks. One brighter other better contrast.
