These units are so far superior to older AC technology.....it's an absolute game changer.
What I REALLY wish is that they would discount the units that have heat pump capability. I have two of them as well and would buy one more. It's amazing the amount of heat they can put out per watt, as compared to resistive space heaters.
It is predicted to be in the mid to upper 80's already next week down here in south Texas. I hope I don't have to install them already.
Mold? I didn't have any issues with that. On humid days, the AC can pull enough water out of the air that the water pools up in the outside portion of the AC. Some people would drill drain holes in the unit, but I just folded up a paper towel into a strip and tucked it between the fins and the case so it wicks the excess water out of the unit and into a bucket or onto a thirsty plant. Works great.

I have both the 8k and the 12k of the U-Shapes. They work nice. Ive never had mold. All ACs will condense, fill up, and then drip water, humid or not. Lean em backwards to drain outside. Add drains if needed. They are quiet and COLD. Inverter means they startup slow and dont spike current.
Our 12k is in the master BR and allows us to cool that room without cooling the entire house. The 8k was the first one I bought and was in the master BR, and is now used for cooling the tent or trailer at music festivals. The 8k runs on a big LiFePO4 battery on solar. On low it will idle at less than 200W. It doesnt need a hard start or an oversized inverter or generator to get it started.
Just a Heads up, these are MAW__V1QWT (like mine). If you check the Energy Star site, seems like they have new ones MAW__U1QWT that are rated one point more in CEER ratings. Both are still more efficient than usual window ACs we're used to pulling 1000w

These have a CEER of 15 If your Central AC is new(er) then it's not much less efficient than these things.
Only benefit to this is that if you only use the few rooms where these are located then you can maintain the house at a higher temp.
Whole house comfort is MORE important (to me)than the potential $10 savings.
These are great for power failures and or Unit failures.
I'd like to see these with more thought out styling , linked up with a cello type thermostat and occupancy sensors would be a great retrofit especially in older homes with low slopes and ceilings.
Problem with central anything these days is they are soon out of date, so any computation has to take into account you're going to leave it there till it croaks.
