I posted the Motorola Mesh WiFi system listing all the downsides like poor Amazon reviews. System worked well, then got hinky and lost connection to modem on and off, sometimes 15min at a time. No support so returned. Picked this up, installed, fast, stable and good so far. Walmart selling cheaper than Amazon's refurbished and most stores you can order, pick up same day. IDK if shelf price is the same. It covers our 4,000ft with its 2 nodes. 2 year warranty. App install easy.

This is a good price. Dual-band and WiFi 5, but still useful for the majority of homes.

My TP link mesh network has a dedicated 2.4 IoT ssid. I don't know if that's device dependent, but was what I needed to use for some things. Might be worth looking into

Thanks, found these 2.4ghz devices could not see my previous mesh so didn't even try it, will check.

So which brand/model would you suggest that allows you to modify every aspect of the network and provide good coverage in the home?

These days their are a lot of gimmicks, netgear is not great either perhaps time to try Asus I guess. Most important thibg is coverage And reliability.

Can this be added as additional units to TPLINK S4 mesh network?

It looks like an older model/lower end model on wifi 5 possibly. It's still good though but looking for wifi 6E to kind of future proof but of course that cost more.

If you want to future proof, then you need to consider spending the money and go with the newest tech WiFi 7.

I believe this product has a 100 mbps Ethernet port. Research on this before you buy. This means it will limit your internet speed to 100 mbps

Spec sheet says 2 * 10/100 ports.
They claim1200 Mbps but internet download speed would be capped at 100 won't it?
Yeah this is a huge con for this deal, I would get this for may parents, but even with their 200mbps service I am effectively cutting it in half ( not that they would notice, but still feels like waste ).

Few qs:
1. Does it work w any other router than tp-link. I have Asus router which i like to extend.
2. The description picture shows 22 IoTs. Does that mean only 22 devices can be connected? Per node or whole mesh? I have 37.
3. Can vpn, custom dns setup? In other words, is lan/wan customizable? Previous ones which i had tried are Motorola and Google ones, and you can't change default settings.
Thanks!
These types of mesh systems are never cross compatible as there is no standard for them. If you've already got an Asus router your best bet is to go with AI Mesh. Personally I've got an RT-AX3000 as my main router and a pair of RT-AX55's as my mesh nodes. They've been solid for me and have a lot of nice features like being able to update the firmware from all three from the main router config, disable the lights on the router or pin a device to a specific node.

As far as this mesh set goes. It's obviously pretty limited in performance between being an old Wifi standard and only having 10/100 ports. Even having only 2 Ethernet ports is pretty limiting on a main router. It's okay if you just want coverage or possibly as nodes for a compatible Tplink router but otherwise I'd probably avoid it. Maybe the only situation where I'd say wireless back-haul is probably better than wired. It is at least theoretically capable of going well beyond the 100 mb of the wired Ethernet port.

I don't think that's what it means because when I do a Speedtest on an older model than this I get 423mbps and I have 400 service so I'm getting even more than what I'm paying for and that's through Wi-Fi.

What model? Gigabit ports have been available for 20 years. This is not a "newer is better" kind of thing; they really just cut costs deep on this one.

Thanks for the info, my friend. How's the reliability of device? As mentioned, not everyone needs 4K cloud streaming and/or gaming. I can stream off my server on 4K contents using just poweline that gives 50mbps speed, so I am not concerned about my parents using for email and YT.
Had this for a year in a one story 2700 square foot house. Very reliable and consistent 50-100 mbps for most of house. Distant bedroom is about 10 but perfectly usable.
2 adults. College kids visit occasionally, no complaints.
We stream 4K on one TV at a time since it's just the two of us.
