I posted the Motorola Mesh WiFi system listing all the downsides like poor Amazon reviews. System worked well, then got hinky and lost connection to modem on and off, sometimes 15min at a time. No support so returned. Picked this up, installed, fast, stable and good so far. Walmart selling cheaper than Amazon's refurbished and most stores you can order, pick up same day. IDK if shelf price is the same. It covers our 4,000ft with its 2 nodes. 2 year warranty. App install easy.
Model: TP Link Mesh WiFi Router system | Upgrade Home Coverage up to 3,000 Sq Ft |Two - Mesh Routers| (W2400)

TP Link makes decent devices if you don't need to modify every aspect of your network. They don't seem to have a good browser administrator page, it's app dependent, and app is very limited and does not refresh immediately. Sometimes it shows a device that has long left our network still active. It's fine for the price, but range and speed is luckluster even for their X50 and X55 models. Range and speed is fine if you have no obstructions.
Thanks for the info, my friend. How's the reliability of device? As mentioned, not everyone needs 4K cloud streaming and/or gaming. I can stream off my server on 4K contents using just poweline that gives 50mbps speed, so I am not concerned about my parents using for email and YT.
Bought these a couple of years ago for my parents and inlaws who have dead spots all over their houses. Both have been super happy and have barely had to restart them. They don't really use them for streaming, as I was able to wire from routers to the tvs, but for wifi they've been solid and have good range.

So which brand/model would you suggest that allows you to modify every aspect of the network and provide good coverage in the home?
Poster here, I have old cat5 line that runs from modem location to farthest away point in house, I think it was for a Blu-ray player. So an option for the node connection but it's reception from router and then signal to devices is strong so didn't bother. My system is 2 networks, old Netgear modem/router (slow). I separated it from TP-Link, ethernet into TP-Link. Plan was turn Netgear radio off but our thermostats and outlets are 2.4ghz and don't see mesh.
It looks like an older model/lower end model on wifi 5 possibly. It's still good though but looking for wifi 6E to kind of future proof but of course that cost more.
TP-Link is a good brand. It's way more reliable than Asus if you ask me. I have been using their mesh for more than 5 yrs and it still rocks.
Perfect reception in all my rooms over (2000+ sqft). I am waiting for their WiFi 7 mesh price to come down. I will get the tplink mesh upgrade for sure.

My TP link mesh network has a dedicated 2.4 IoT ssid. I don't know if that's device dependent, but was what I needed to use for some things. Might be worth looking into
WARNING: The reason this unit is so cheap is that it only supports 100Mbps LAN. For many people in the US, that will limit their internet speed. If you want something cheap but that supports 1000Mbps (gigabit), try tenda mesh
It only has 10/100 LAN connection. Which could be an issue for some who have good internet speed. The lack of gigabit port really hinders the performance on this. One has to wonder how fast the processor is if the network port is only 10/100. I'm guessing it's slow too.
This is more important fact than any others. This is far too slow given a lot of ISPs provide nowadays a far higher minimum speed than 100.
