I posted the Motorola Mesh WiFi system listing all the downsides like poor Amazon reviews. System worked well, then got hinky and lost connection to modem on and off, sometimes 15min at a time. No support so returned. Picked this up, installed, fast, stable and good so far. Walmart selling cheaper than Amazon's refurbished and most stores you can order, pick up same day. IDK if shelf price is the same. It covers our 4,000ft with its 2 nodes. 2 year warranty. App install easy.

This is a good price. Dual-band and WiFi 5, but still useful for the majority of homes.

Spec sheet says 2 * 10/100 ports.
They claim1200 Mbps but internet download speed would be capped at 100 won't it?

Thanks for the info, my friend. How's the reliability of device? As mentioned, not everyone needs 4K cloud streaming and/or gaming. I can stream off my server on 4K contents using just poweline that gives 50mbps speed, so I am not concerned about my parents using for email and YT.

Just 24hrs of use but I checked log and no dropped service. Just did speedtest 25' from main router 88mps.

I needed a router a couple of weeks ago and went to Walmart intending to pick up the $130 TP-link Archer AX4400, but switched to this when I saw it at the store, having had really good experience with TP-Link mesh routers in the past, and saved some money. For a medium-sized house, I've had no issues, strong coverage throughout, 4k streaming, work from home with VPN and VCs all day long, many IOT devices. Also dead simple to set up.

Thank you again. Think my parents Internet is only 100 or 200, so it's actually good to not have one device stealing all the bandwidth like 1Gbps LAN port.

These TP Link WM models work great. Easy install at my elderly in-laws (replaced a Netgear R7000 that just couldn't reach to metal workshop).

I'm impressed. I love the wired backhaul and expansion options, any TPL mesh can be integrated easily so upgrading down the road is as easy as upgrading the primary and moving the older series to perimeter duty. Also, I love that each unit is the same, so you can divide it up and setup completely different networks if you wanted too. They have also made great efforts towards family safety as far as device management, time limits, scheduling, and content filtering. TPL will definitely be on my list for when I decide to upgrade from my Google WiFi.

It only has 10/100 LAN connection. Which could be an issue for some who have good internet speed. The lack of gigabit port really hinders the performance on this. One has to wonder how fast the processor is if the network port is only 10/100. I'm guessing it's slow too.

Besides speed, think consistency of connection and ease of setup are more important for value device like this. Can be ideal for small-medium home with elderly mostly using their mid-range phones and tablets, like my parents. Heck, they are still using the WRT54GL that I installed Tomato on it. Couldn't find too many reviews on reliability though...
Here's some reviews-

I agree with you this a good deal, probably good enough for even most households, but for those looking for just a little more speed this

$80 Gigabit AX1800 system is also an option:

$96 for a AX3000 system

and

I have a Deco M5 setup at my parents house. It's plenty for what they need and the app is super handy to troubleshoot and fix issues. Only thing I don't like is they get pretty hot. This form factor might be better.

I dropped Google for this brand. 200% improvement in coverage and stability

Bought a refurb set of these off ebay back in june 2021. No problems whatsoever with speeds and connection, but the 10/100 port did mean that I had to get an updated unit with a gigabit port to get full speeds in 2023 when the isp increased speeds. The newer unit replaced the access point w2400 unit seamlessly through the app, despite different generations, they all work together.

Few qs:
1. Does it work w any other router than tp-link. I have Asus router which i like to extend.
2. The description picture shows 22 IoTs. Does that mean only 22 devices can be connected? Per node or whole mesh? I have 37.
3. Can vpn, custom dns setup? In other words, is lan/wan customizable? Previous ones which i had tried are Motorola and Google ones, and you can't change default settings.
Thanks!
