Some of these router brands are so lazy to patch security flaws. Last update was almost a year and half ago. It's not like the flaws don't exist. They simply aren't patching.
bought these a year ago. seriously the worst wifi system i've ever used. absolute trash. if you love rebooting routers, you'll love Linksys.
Looks like that is the latest firmware version:

Same here. Got the ax4200 from Costco couple years ago. Just retuned it few weeks back and Costco took it back! Got myself the Orbi 852 and haven't looked back since.

Hardware is probably 20% of the router's utility. The rest is good software! Generally buy routers with 3rd party firmware, and they will not become obsolete for a long time

Had the WHW03 series in our house(not the same as these). Was one of the most frustrating experience ever. I had a total of 3 nodes+ base station. Had satellites drop off constantly. It was not a matter of satellites being too far. After dealing with those for more than a year, switched to the Orbi system. Had been flawless for the last 2 years. I really hope this version is far better.

I second that claim about using it as bridge.
I have a dedicated router and only use my velop for wifi, it's hardware is absolutely good for the money if you find them on sale.

To be fair many WiFi systems lie about WiFi 6, their 5Ghz runs on WiFi 6 but 2.4Ghz is still WiFi 4, velop WiFi does have both in WiFi 6.

Their software is definitely a meh, I'm not sure what is going on with the Linksys they used to be fairly good.

The Velop system is the best home network system you can buy.

I won't buy another brand of router. I had the wireless AC version of these for 4 years. And then swapped to these - mine was a 3 pack so it had a different number but I'm pretty sure it's these same ones.

The old ones didn't even die, I gave them away to a family member and now these ones are doing great for the last year. 100% stable, allows band splitting and has great coverage for a mesh network.

I do use wired backhaul in my setup but with triband it doesn't really matter, they're good even using wireless backhaul

Had an older velop system as my first MeSH setup. It was literally the worst piece of technology I've ever used. The app is trash, the ability to modify settings is dependent on the buggy POS app. I switched to Ubiquiti products (cultish I know) and have had an extremely pleasant experience. Threw the Linksys garbage right where it belongs. In the trash can.

User error

you can absolutely modify the settings via web browser, though the app is amazing and very user friendly to do 90% of the things you need to do.

I had a Ubiquity briefly, good performance but not designed for the consumer, and way more customization than 99.9% of home users need.

Almost positive Orbi Pro series have VLAN support, just FYI. Still double check, but since they have features like captive gateways and what not, pretty sure I saw VLAN on the feature list a long time ago.

These support wired backhaul. Why doesn't that work for your purpose?

Strange - I keep end up going back to these. I tried asus and tplink. These have been the most reliable. Asus had issues with the one of them just dropping out despite a wired backhaul. TP link after a power outage, would allow the router that didnt have internet, hand out IP addresses. Only way to fix is to unplug the mesh routers, and reboot the main router and let that get settled in before powering up the others. If you lose power often, even if its just a few seconds, it kills the network unless you're there. It's been a known issue with wired decos for like 7 years now.

The god damn app is horrible

I had nothing but problems with this system, it was the velop line but a previous model. In addition to constant disconnects it would randomly broadcast my ssid wide open (no password/security) despite it being setup to have wpa2. I had wired backhaul and they pushed a firmware the day before Thanksgiving that broke this function. I had to manually cable each node to my laptop and downgrade the firmware to get it working again. Nodes would randomly reset and need to be repaired with the system. When I reached out for support I had to sign a waiver saying Linksys wasn't responsible for any issues that may arise from their troubleshooting, including bricking the routers. After weeks of back and forth, nothing got better. The whole experience was disheartening. I switched to tplinks omada line and so far it's been working well.

I'm not surprised about the old firmware. My model had a bug where some Linux devices werent able to pull an IP via the velops DHCP server. This was confirmed by Linksys. Took them a year to put out a fix.
