The entire case is a heatsink and it runs at around 41C. It takes one DDR5 SODIMM and any NVMe or SSD.
If you combine that with opnsense router Linux you've got a very nice machine.
Same boat here. Took the plunge and upgraded my 2.5gb pfsense ali-express firewall to one with 10gb so I can try out 8gig gfiber. Even the dream Machine only does 3.5 with IPS/IDS enabled. Hoping my little i5 box can do line speed
Oh and I printed this wall mount, fits this device perfectly as it has the exact same dimensions: https://www.printables.
But UDR doesn't have Dual-WAN . That's a must-have for me (could be for everyone..)
It looks silly how UBNT have just thrown a bunch of mix and match features all around, and just picked them randomly into different products.
I'd have bought UDR or something like that with enough power (It's dual-core ARM vs UCG-Ultra which seems Quad-Core) at $199 , if it only had dual-wan. I'm sure Dual-Wan is just a Software feature, so they intentionally must've neutered it.

But I'm just now moving away from Pfsense to having one system with Unifi, with UCG-Ultra (Dual-WAN) + 3 UI switches and 3 APs with several VLANs . It's really great to have one app/interface with works everywhere (and is quite capable and friendly). So far not missing PFsense, although PFsense can be guaranteed to have features you might ever need, and with Unifi you never know.. Even VPN server/client options are good (WireGuard, OpenVPN and "Teleport"), and the ability to map all the VLANs/SSIDs and networks and rules/routes between them is very neat and simple.
I think (finally) a full Unifi network including Gateway is a viable reality.
And Thankfully, no subscription/recurring fees yet, which would be a deal-killer (for me).
