Just bought this two weeks ago when the deal was live then.
I am so impressed with the grill. I would recommend lump charcoal. I am using jealous devil for my charcoal.
Now I just need to get the heat deflector to smoke meats on it.
The only complaint I have is how short it is for a 6'3" person. I am in the process of making longer legs for the unit to make my life easier.
Get it. If you're cooking for 4 or less this thing is worth it. I have a large kamado, Blackstone, and a kettle joe. This thing is amazing for anything other than smoking a brisket. I got mine on clearance at Walmart about 5 years ago for $64 and absolutely love it. Awesome to bring to tailgates and camping too

Can it smoke a ham? Also what accessories do you recommend?

You didn't ask me. But yeah you can smoke a ham. This thing is great for all kinds of roasts. You want to Google and read up on smoke. Ideally the smoke coming out the top will have a bluish tint. If it's choked off too much the meat will be covered with an unhealthy burnt woodish tar. The trick is to get the right amount of charcoal in and to get the airflow correct. Since this is insulated it's very efficient with fuel so it will be cheap er than other barbecues as far as charcoal goes. But that also means you need to use a small amount of coal so it gets a low even Heat and again good air flow. Google good smoker smoke or something.
I'm not sure what the best way to get the smoke in there is. probably a metal box with wood chips in it.

smoking is overrated in terms of convenience. I have a Breville toaster oven and I can make a rack of barbecue beef ribs in about 4 hours and about 20 minutes of actual work. I cook them at 270 for about three hours in a foil tent to keep the moisture in. then an hour without the foil because I don't like wet ribs. they're delicious no smoke but I don't miss the smoke so much considering I had a rack of ribs for about $18 from Costco. that said ribs are probably not good for this thing but roasts are oxtail tri-tip are great for this thing too. learn which types of meats are slow cook meats that require about 4 hours to break down the collagen like oxtail brisket chuck roast. and fast cooked meats like tri-tip and chicken.

Great deal! Added a filler and used my $15 off $100 from my HD card. It's small enough I'll put away after every use so it doesn't rust as quick.

If you already own a blackstone griddle, this grill sits perfectly on top of it. I bought mine a few weeks ago when it was on sale, and I've done a lot of smoking and grilling in it. Pick up a compatible deflector stone and you'll be ready to smoke meats.

dang! always wanted this little guy. Its big brother is what got me started in kamado grilling. These bbqs are SCARY efficient... I bought a nice ceramic kamado grill later on, cooks nice, but uses twice the amount of charcoal to run as these akorn grills, very effecient they are. They can last 5 years or so if you ALWAYS cover them and never let them get wet and don't sear at crazy temps.

Longer legs means you'll trip over a leg and send a beehive of coals flying. Better off putting it on a sturdy heavy table.
Completely agree. I use a 24"x48" Lifetime folding table with the legs set to the shortest setting and it's the perfect size and operating height for the Jr. The Akorn sits on one half and the other side is just the right amount of workspace for digital thermometer display, tongs, etc. Not to mention you're going to want somewhere to put your (pork) butt when opening the lid.

Dad had a big green egg so tempted. I would miss the LP convenience but only BBQ twice a month. Someone in other thread mentioned " metal conduit on over the legs" for better height. My 5yo cheap LP grill is on it's last legs so will go with this thing. Thanks. Free delivery sealed the deal.

I grabbed one for smaller items. I already have a Big Green Egg and a Kamado Joe Jr.

Smoked a brisket on it today. Went well. Personally I struggled to keep it under 300 degrees. Just something to keep in mind.

Really want this, but... looking for use in camping... if everyone has a propane burner for frying pan thanks to coleman, this shoud be something in my mind not just for cooking but also fire/heat while camping. For someone interested in mobile product while traveling for both cooking and basic heat, this is only useful for cooking...

Why can you not use this for basic heat?? It's a portable grill slash fire pit. If you just want a place to contain fire, it can do that.

Same, went from a normal Akorn, to a KJ Big Joe, and a lot of times, I miss the Akorn. Quicker to heat up and used less charcoal.

Everyone new to the kamado grills has the same problem. Takes a few times to figure it out. You just have to close the vents earlier to bring it up slower. Once it goes too hot, it's near impossible to bring back down.

On top the cover of the blackstone?
