The Quest 2 still has quite a bit of life to it - it won't get the high-res textures in newer games, but Meta unlocked something like 30% extra power in the headset a while back, there's a huge backlog of quality games and even the newer games run on it (there might be a couple quest-3-exclusive games on it)
Much of the Quest3 benefit is going to be in the better lenses, the extra power (higher quality visuals) and the color passthrough, and I love all of these -- but the Quest 2 can still run games great.
I'd say the controllers on the Quest 2 might even track better than the Quest 3.
A couple quick notes/suggestions:
Use a referral code when activating your Quest, you'll get a bonus $30 store credit.
Whenever buying a game from the store, use a referral code and you'll save 25% instantly. Both of these are easy to find.
Buy the "Quest Games Optimizer" (3rd party tool) which will let you adjust the quality of games, like resolution and power. Many of them are not optimized and can look considerably better with this add-on

If you don't see these in the target app, you probably don't have them
Steam has an app called "steam link" so you can play PCVR games you bought on Steam. Or you can connect through the Meta Quest app installed on the PC. Or you can buy an app called Virtual Desktop.
And just to be clear, many (most?) games are completely fine to play on the headset standalone. You don't need the extra computing power from your PC and GPU. Some games, like "The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution" you can do either. The graphics are better if you hook up to a PC but you can also play standalone.

Overall, I think it's worthwhile and while I am still considering the 3 in the future for the better lenses, power, and pass-through this is still a fun little machine for chat and games.
Haven't really felt many of the limitations - the pass-through is sufficient for what it does on this headset, the small sweet spot issue is basically eliminated with the elite strap IME since I can find it and strap it down quickly, the battery life is more than enough for the length of sessions I can find time for, and for the games I've played I haven't noticed an issue with the headset being underpowered.
The referral credit is also enough that you can get started with some of the more killer apps without going more out of pocket.
Overall, I'm glad I went with this at this price at this time. Hard to find as much time as I'd like to play it so while I know the 3 is a better experience, having only used it briefly in-store I'm not spoiled and when this inevitably gets shelved when I get bored of the games that are on it I'll be glad that I didn't drop twice as much on the 3.
Edit: haters can downvote me all you want, but you can't change the fact that this price is indeed good enough for the front page.
