The Quest 2 still has quite a bit of life to it - it won't get the high-res textures in newer games, but Meta unlocked something like 30% extra power in the headset a while back, there's a huge backlog of quality games and even the newer games run on it (there might be a couple quest-3-exclusive games on it)
Much of the Quest3 benefit is going to be in the better lenses, the extra power (higher quality visuals) and the color passthrough, and I love all of these -- but the Quest 2 can still run games great.
I'd say the controllers on the Quest 2 might even track better than the Quest 3.
A couple quick notes/suggestions:
Use a referral code when activating your Quest, you'll get a bonus $30 store credit.
Whenever buying a game from the store, use a referral code and you'll save 25% instantly. Both of these are easy to find.
Buy the "Quest Games Optimizer" (3rd party tool) which will let you adjust the quality of games, like resolution and power. Many of them are not optimized and can look considerably better with this add-on

Still rock my Rift CV1 occasionally. They actually sent me a replacement CV1 in November for my failed earphones. 5 years after purchase.
Only game that's ever given me motion sickness on my Rift CV1, wasn't pretty.

Just play a little, I was getting sick too. In 2 weeks of playing everyday for a little bit no more than an hour I now don't feel anything...
Going to get the referral bonus, by making another account accepting the referral. Using the $30 to buy games as a gift. Then factory reset and add the 2nd headset to my family account.
I had $10 in Circle Rewards, I think from buying the Quest 2, so it was $35.
Paid with my $50 gift card!
