Dude, I have a 165hz monitor. Ronia and Petey are both right, 60hz is fine for non-gamers and gamers.

Then you come in with competitive gaming and blah blah why? Literally no one here is talking about competitive gaming besides you. Do you go into threads about Ford Focus and bring up it isn't as fast a supercar? Its true just youtube it, all the pro racers don't drive Ford Focus.

Its even fine for gamers, just a lot of elitist's who dont really know better. I literally gamed on a 60hz monitor till just this year, and I played all the shooters you could think of and still ranked in the top of each shooter game I played such as COD/MW/CS:GO/Battlefield.

Its just lack of skills, and people not knowing better who say you cant game on 60Hz.

Lets just keep raising the bar needlessly. If you think you are competitive gamer and need every edge you can get, you are not looking at these monitors to begin with.

300 nits only, FYI.
Not that the 350 nits (which many more expensive LG IPS 4K screens can reach) is all that much better.
Feels a little low for 2024. Still adequate for most rooms. Just don't expect real HDR, whatever the spens may claim.

Refresh is 60Hz
Unless the monitor is minimum $400 you wont find a full 4K (3840x2160) monitor with a refresh rate over 60Hz anywhere near this price range.

Wrong. Going to 120~144hz from 60hz makes all the difference in the world in competitive gaming.

Dude, just YT 60 hz vs 120 hz gaming. It's like night and day.
And if there is no difference why would people pay more for it?
I can definitely tell. If you ever upgrade to 120+ refresh rate you'd be able to tell also.

WE ARE talking about it right now! I didn't kick this door in and Braveheart "Refreshhhh rateeeee!!" Agree 60hz is fine for non gamers. But higher refresh rate is better not just visually but also better for your vision health.
If you don't think so stick with your 60 hz. Done deal.
The only difference between the refresh rates is how fluid the inbetween is from point A to point B is, the images still get there both at the same time no matter the refresh rate. As a gamer its your intuition that you use to decide where to line up your shot and where the endpoint point B is, the inbetween is still there just not as fluid and does not matter as much.

So yes 60hz is perfectly fine for even gamers, especially gamers who do a lot of RTS/RPG/4X, cause they will see very little difference in those types of games. As for gamers who play FPS or racing I already covered that. Did it for many years never had a problem, but I also was better than most!

As for eye health, lolol, whos looking at 4K monitors at a 27" screen size and really going to lecture someone on eye health, that alone will contribute to poor eye health.

Comparing a 60hz panel to a 144hz panel, the 144hz panel can show something on screen up to ~ 10ms faster than the 60hz panel. For casual gaming, you're right, it just doesn't matter much; but for those who are competitive (people with thousands of hours in their chosen game, know their k/d ratio and subtle nuances of each weapon for example) they can and will benefit a bit. More importantly, it FEELS better which just makes the whole experience more enjoyable.

If you're using your 4k panel correctly, you're scaling at the OS level to get a proper on-screen physical size of fonts etc. for your vision, and the 4k will absolutely render the same physical size font more sharply than a lower resolution. Unfortunately most windows folks still don't benefit from this much due to window's less than stellar handling of scaling.

For information, Dell S2721QS which is another 4K monitor that is better than this one in terms of brightness, color accuracy and built-in stand is currently $229.
