I snagged that last one in Fishers. Really wanted a 77" instead, but decided to buy it and see what happens in the next few days/weeks. My wife works for Target so we got to stack her employee discount too. Incredible deal at roughly $850 pretax, but I feel like I'm going to regret not getting a 77" for our space instead of a 65"
night and day difference between the 65 and 77.
you should have held out for the 77, especially since you said you had room for it.
i picked up last one at a target in bay area today morning. went yesterday and price was 1399. Tech person was not willing to reduce it to 999. Did some conversation asking if there is an updated price as i had gone to 2 targets b4 and they all showed 999. Asked him if he saw lower price after a week and would he be willing to sell for 999 today. he said he doesnt have that kind of power. manager was out for the day as well. he asked me to come today morning and try with manager
went today morning and price still rang up 1399. asked the rep to see if todays price is 999. they kept insisting that price is 1399. i asked them to update their scanner and they hit a button. 1399. i asked them if there is a secondary tool, inventory tool to scan or fresh price update as of 8 am today. same 1399. Wasn't willing to budge or sell for 999. asked me to call or come whenever i can, afternoon, tomorrow, next week and find out. i said i cant keep coming. if u see price changing today afternoon u can maybe sell it to me now since i m in store. no dice. same 1399. I asked them to see their scanner if the price will update at a particular time today so that i can come. they kept scrolling, telling a bunch of tvs and bought up 55inch for 749. i said bingo. it means the 65 is priced at 999. u just have to update it. no dice. then i asked for manager. they said manager is on vacation but they have authority. i said ok, thanks for your help and they left. I hung around because i was thinking might as well buy at 1399 and then later come for price adjustment for 999 within 2 weeks. i went to the tech guy who wears maroon t-shirt. He instantly updated the price on his scanner and it showed 999 and i bought it.
tldr, keep looking. ask the tech guy to update todays price in the scanner. it looked to me that they had to manually scan each tv for this to happen. until this happens none of the other scanners will show 999 is what the tech guy said.
keep trying over next few days and weeks. perhaps someone might return as S90C deals are also floating around and u'll get chance to buy at 70% discount. and some might feel 65" is small for their room n return.
i also dont see harm in calling. didn't look like employees were interested in buying themselves.
also other tvs are marked down. u can ask them over phone. They scanned a samsung 75inch for 410. marked down from 529. U might be able to get other TVs for cheaper.
much thanks to OP and also folks who suggested uber xl. couldn't fit in a corolla as the seats didnt fold down giving enough gap.
I think the 42-inch option is the best deal when you calculate the money you saved per inch. almost got it for 769 a week ago. also small enough as a ps5 kiosk.
42" vs 65"
65" is 54.76% larger diagonal, 139.51% larger total area
i paid via cc. does anyone know if i can get target card after a week and ask them to change form of payment or do return + rebuy so that i can avail 5% cashback ?

Which store was this? I struck out in Fremont and San Jose.. they wouldn't even sell the display model
How does price matching at Target work? I got the 55" last week in SoCal for $1050. Saw someone post a picture of the price tag earlier in the thread, is that enough to show Target or do I need a receipt?
None in Boulder, 80302 store. You can get the display model but I wasn't interested. They ring up at $999. I didn't try to negotiate the display model; wasn't interested.
65" is 54.76% larger diagonal, 139.51% larger total area
My apologies for the apples-to-oranges comparison. To provide some context, the pixel density comes out to 67.78 pixels per inch (PPI) for the 65-inch display and 104.9 PPI for the 42-inch one. These figures make them ideal choices for a high-resolution computer monitor, especially if you're considering alternatives to purchasing the Dell 32-inch OLED for 3 times less.

The bolt pattern seems low on the back of the TV.
