True, but LG is notorious for issues with their linear compressors failing to the extent where there have been multiple class action lawsuits. I have one also, but if I'd known about these issues beforehand, I might chosen another brand.
pretty good deal if you need two fridge. But LG quality is meh.
You don't want samsung fridge either, i have been dealing with ice machine since i got the damn thing 🙈

As of February 2024, more than 100 consumers have filed a class action lawsuit against LG, Kenmore, and several retailers over LG refrigerators' linear compressors. The lawsuit alleges that the compressors are faulty and defective, and that they frequently break down years before their advertised lifespan of 20 years. The lawsuit also claims that LG knows about the issue and continues to make compressors that fall short of their durability

Check Ben's Appliance YT channel before buying any fridge.

Happy that my GE is 40 yrs. old now and functioning well. I'll "never" replace it. Though I should buy a spare timer and fan motor to have on hand just in case.

Would never recommend a fridge with an in door ice maker again. I got the more basic LG from costco 2 months ago, the 31 cu ft one for $1100 with the free fridge, was a much better deal.
That is what we did as well. Plus it has an extra 5 cu ft and seems to be working great. The thing I like the most is the ice would stick together on our old one but this one they start perfect. The 31 cu ft deal seemed like the best no frills but upgraded compressor.

Not gonna lie, I'd rather buy a new fridge every 5-6 years than give up my ice and water on the door. That's the feature my family uses pretty much constantly.

They're talking about ice and water IN the door, as in all the components in the door, not having the ice/water dispenser in general.

The "free" fridge is nice. Got it during the last time it was offered few months ago. I put it in my office. It's too tall to go under the table but a nice fridge to put if you have room. Not too loud either. The only issue I have is that even in the lowest cool setting, I have had some drinks freeze on me.

Costco does offer extended warranty after its standard 2 years. I plan to get that. I tried to buy a similar fridge from Home Depot and their warranty + parts + installation added about $300-$500 on top of regular price (depending on location).

Have this unit. The only thing I don't like is the door ice dispenser ALWAYS gets it's ice stuck, and you have to open that panel from the inside and rattle the hopper to get the ice loose.

It happens so frequently we really stop using the door ice.

BUT, all LG's do this (I learned, after having a tech out the firs month of ownership, and he told me this then), and is something I'll live with I suppose, as I do like it otherwise.

I'd like to get a reliable frig. The best-selling frig in Japan is Hitachi, followed by Toshiba.
It's time we got some reasonably priced quality products in our market.

Even though the CAL is 2024, the fridges in question were some years ago, basically 2014-2017.

I had 2 different LG's fridge compressor failed right around 5 years. One of them is just before 5 years and so they cover parts and labor. The second one is just past 5 years and they only cover part ($400 or so) but the labor cost me ~$800.
My 8 year old LG fridge just failed last week. LG has Out of Warranty $449 Flat Rate Repair, it was very easy to schedule an appointment.

Tech is came last week with New Compressor but also needed to replace the coil, he did not have New coil so coming tomorrow to replace both.

I bought the version of this fridge without the special door/knock glass in March with the free smaller LG fridge.
I had been watching the price of the fridge daily for months.
It seems that they just randomly adjust the prices of these daily regardless of the sale.
The prices seem to fluctuate between 50 and a couple hundred off daily.
One random day i was looking and the fridge I was eyeing was $600 lower than it had been every day the month prior.
No new sale no-nothing and I jumped on it, within 12 hours it was back to it's more normal price.

So I say all this to say the sales don't really seem to matter, keep an eye on the price and buy when you feel it is low enough to your liking.

My opinion so far on the big fridge is it is great. Lots of room and plenty of ice makers.
The mini fridge while nice is hard to regulate the temp. I have it below it's "safe" recommended setting and it fluctuates between 32-36 degrees. If i put it at the recommended setting, everything would freeze. It gets crazy cold.

I think each brand has some issues. My LG is kicking fine for past 12 yrs.
My entire LG set from less than 2 years ago is loaded with issues and deep regrets on me purchasing LG branded appliances. Support and quality of the newer high end stuff they sell is ridiculously horrible...

I have this fridge, came with my house. No complaints. It's approximately 5 years old including the 1 year that I have lived in my new home. Buy kenmore water filters if you decide to go this route. They are universal with the whirlpool ones but you get a pack of 2 for like 30 bucks instead of 1 for 50.

Thanks for your response and tip!
