Speaking of 4yo's, these are way better for kids than the cartoon rods that cost more. Get one of these, instead, and it will last them until they're big enough for a more reasonably sized rod.
These are also decent to toss in the trunk if you want to be prepared to fish on a whim. They don't take up a ton of space, the tip probably won't break from sliding around, and they work great for panfish, smaller bass or catfish.

Yea the reel stinks. My daughter dropped my setup in like 2-3 inches of water (enough to partially submerge it) and it pretty much was inoperable after that
I will say $10 is not bad for a child just getting started and needed a full sized rod and reel. However, the rod is the real winner as it is decently made and pairs very well with a Zebco 33 or a Shimano reel that you can pick up fairly cheap and have yourself a great combo for panfish and smaller bass.
For the one loaded with the 6lb test, pretty much except during covid. You can generally get things all day long at Walmart. However the blue and the red are usually 12-15, up to 18.
The reels on the little dock demon is leagues below that of the larger one in this deal. That said it's mostly the drag that varies, and some are better than others. I have 3 and at the lowest drag, not all are the same. I switched them all to 12 lb braided, and a 10lb floro leader.
I seem to recall seeing these and the ugly stick competitor but, the reels didn't seem to be removable

I have an Abu Garcia Black Max baitcaster on my dock demon. I love using it on my kayak, great for one handed casting. I keep it in a storage compartment in my truck for "emergency" fishing. š¤£

The rod is practically indestructible for most fish you would ever try to go for. Tons of fishing YouTube influencers have done challenges to break these things with the weight of full sized people. I have the dock demon and dock runner. the dock runner is longer, feels a little bit higher quality but isn't as durable and will snap before the dock demon in the most extreme conditions. every angler should have one of these in their kit.

This 33 Micro Spincast [amazon.com] is actually made with the mount on TOP of it, so it's technically more of a spinning reel. You could put it on this Dock Demon rod [walmart.com] or this Dock Runner rod [walmart.com] because their reels mounts are located on the top. I have a couple of these Dock Runners and they're a little bit longer, which give you more whip to get a lure out farther.
