They also own a few other audio brands

I actually own this unit and for this price I dont know anything on the market that touches it for home theater applications
I suggest you read the AVS forum thread from actual owners who have set this up and know the tips and tricks specific to this Onkyo
Each brand seems to have implement Dirac a bit differently..IMO..the Onkyo is a simplified set up of Dirac

I'll be pleasantly surprised if the 3800 gets it.
Not sure many will take advantage of it anyways.
Look at how often people believe DLBC does not have much value or benefit.
It's heavily dependent DLBC and will be required so $500 +.
Not to mention for optimal performance your core loudspeakers should/would be full range/reference & 4 subs.
Having setup a few Cinemas, one with 4 subs.
It was pretty damn impressive, they make a great match imo.
Directional is also but still give the edge to DLBC.

Here's a nice graphic:

Again no one is clamoring for DLBC.
On the contrary, more like complain about the cost and not worth it!
I don't think ART is as attractive as much as you think it is imo.

Not sure what you mean by better or worse but Dirac is a very good RC so definitely a "better" not worse product imo.
My point was IF ART is even offered at this level in the future, hardly anyone even believes DLBC is a "benefit" especially for the cost.
Even less will find ART a "benefit" especially when you have to have bought DLBC prior.
Imo DLBC is the main reason to get Dirac.
At the very least not having to go through all those 1K pages of pre & post
bass management settings/adjustments to figure out which you will prefer or work best for you is easily well worth it imo.
I paid $350 for multi DLBC, easily well worth that price!
Having tailor made bass management results for my specific setup and environment then easily adjust if needed from there is definitely worth it!
From personal experience I agree with Dirac, getting those tailor made results manually is A LOT of work and may not come out as good.
Especially if you have more than one sub, we know how most people feel about only one sub!

Since we are on Slickdeals, I'm just talking about the capabilities of AVRs in this price range. I'm 99% sure ART is coming to every AVR that has at least one SHARC chip (same speculation across the ART and DL threads). Only time will tell if you're right or I'm right!

Why would anyone else think ART would be worth it for even more money at this level.
Here is what you are missing, this applies to even one subwoofer but yes with more its even more beneficial:
"it will not consider any destructive interference between the speakers."
Bass Control: Dirac Live filters harmonize the subwoofers and non-subwoofer speakers in the lower frequencies using tailor-made phase filters, delays, and gains."
Dirac has been around for years and it's not been some chip on why 99% of AVRs don't have it.
As you can see, people not understanding the value of it plays a part.
Owning it vs understanding it & using it properly are often different.

I get that no one comes to Slickdeals to talk to "experts" but the misinformation helps vendors and resellers I guess!

If you mean parrot the info I just posted from thee expert regarding Dirac, I guess I would fall under that.
I completely agree about misinformation in here regarding Dirac!
By your own admission you don't own DLBC.
Remind us again how "exactly" you know DLBC is no benefit in your setup?
I think it was something about just having one sub! 🤔
I think they had music in mind more than anything imo.
If you're deep in Sonys ecosystem, might work out good

Dirac is room correction software and works with what you have (doesn't create phantom channels). It applies machine learning and proprietary algorithms to correct for nulls and phase in your room and has additional licenses that can add to its toolset (DLBC, ART, etc). One immediate benefit for me was the clarity of the center channel as dialogue used to be muddy and indistinct. Only con is Dirac can be quite costly. In the context of the RZ50 in this deal, it's not possible to perform Dirac Bass Management as you can with other brands and the big brother RZ70. The crossover can only be applied in the RZ50 itself so there's a disconnect b/w when the Dirac filter is created and finally imported to the receiver.
