Be aware of the ASUS warranty, recently exposed by GN: https://youtu.be/7pMrssIrKcY

It is an excellent price for the specs, but personally, I will not buy any ASUS laptops before they make any changes.

I started the post, then had to do some actual work. I went back and posted it without seeing your edit, probably because I'm juggling three computers in different rooms. I'll let this go, but I do have to say I find it funny that were both such a jerk in the pre-edit post, and also thankful about the info I posted that you asked for in the other thread.

I don't understand the content perfection you're seeking here in the SD forums. If someone's post is useful, say thanks or rep or just move on. If someone's post doesn't stroke you in just the right way, also just move on. We're a community. People are trying, for the most part (scammers and spammers trying sell/affiliate their crap are another matter), to help and get help. It's all a give and take.

I have some ASUS products from 2021 that have "issues" but are functional and basically their warranty process was unless it's catastrophic failure they refused to do anything about it. And from what I hear is ASUS quality in the last 1-2 years has worsened…. And their warranty center is ran by, only way I can describe it, sounds like the typical scam call center you hear about in India. Yikes

It's funny how when the AMD version of this laptop was posted for $630 over the holidays, it received a bunch of complaints about the blurry text on the OLED screen, and ever since none of the posts of this line of laptop has ever mentioned it again. Was that a ploy to get people to not buy it over the holidays (which is by far the best deal of this laptop regardless of CPU)?
no one wants to keep parroting to the same thing every month when this gets posted... if dumb consumers can't learn.. let them buy it. a smart consumer would search previous posts and read the comments. to each their own ig

Anyone happen to know why the previous model, Zenbook 14X hasn't gone on sale since March?
It had previously been on sale basically monthly for 6 months:
https://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?forumchoice%5B%5D=4&forumchoice%5B%5D=9&forumchoice%5B%5D=10&forumchoice%5B%5D=13&forumchoice%5B%5D=25&forumchoice%5B%5D=30&forumchoice%5B%5D=38&forumchoice%5B%5D=39&forumchoice%5B%5D=41&forumchoice%5B%5D=44&forumchoice%5B%5D=53&forumchoice%5 B%5D=54&forumchoice%5B%5D=71&q=zenbook+14x&firstonly=1

Then I decided I wanted one and it hasn't gone on sale since. Frown

It's $950 and marked clearance... Does anyone know if items marked clearance at BestBuy ever go on sale again?

Anyone want to give me a compare/contrast against the $420 i7-1755 Acer Swift Go 14 on Amazon last week. It looks like this one is OLED, 1GB vs 512 SSD and not as good as proc/graphics. Anything else I'm missing? Worth the extra $435 (assuming I'd grab the open box excellent)?

Usage would be office stuff, maybe some very light photo/video editing, plus web browsing and media playback. No gaming. The difference in price is in the budget, but saving $200+ if I can is always slick. The Acer arrived over the weekend but I haven't set it up/messed with it yet.

I just went back from Bestbuy grabbed an openbox. so far it is amazing. definitely worth the price. You should go with the zenbook. I found a couple of shortcomings of the acer. 1)constant fan noise; 2) wifi disconnect.

Compared to this zenbook, not as premium.

As for this zenbook, one thing I notice is it is lighter and slimer than the acer. very quiet. screen is beautiful.

The only lacking is I wish the usb-c ports were on the left instead of right. guess whoever designed this is left handed.

Hardly comparable. Much better processor on the Asus, including graphics. It can actually game decently well. Probably not with 16GB though.

This Zenbook vs Flow x13? https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/954438
Came here to ask the same question. The Flow seems like a better build, but not sure which ones more powerful from a CPU/GPU standpoint.

Biggest difference is the formfactor. The X13 is a convertible, so more versatile. Graphically, the X13 has a very slight edge, but not a dealbreaker whatsoever. It might also have better cooling since it's marketed as a gaming device. The Zenbook has more storage obviously.

They're pretty close according to these benchmarks:

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Ult...596.0.html

Of course, with laptops, the same CPU can perform very differently from model to model depending on the cooling.

The Acer was a good deal if you don't play games. Zenbook has a nicer keyboard and the OLED makes a big difference.

This is also not great for games with 60Hz monitor and integrated graphics, although it's fine if you just play Fortnite or Roblox.

Great laptop for the price. Even better at the $672 open box (excellent) price.
Bought this. Thank you!

FWIW, the "blurry screen" on OLED's is only on Touch screens due to the digitizer layer causing text to be not as sharp as a non-touchscreen display. This model does have touch, so I would expect it to be not as sharp, but there are other ASUS models that do not include touchscreen. Some people don't really notice it while others see it right away.

How's the battery life? I had the last gen Q540 with i9-13900 and OLED@120Hz but had a 3050 GPU and only got 2-3 hours battery life watching video.

Been lurking for a laptop for a college student for quite a while, and this checked all the boxes. I'm in! Thanks!

Anybody know how easy it is to replace the battery... when the time comes?
Extremely easy. Few screws the back comes off. Just upgraded the SSD in my AMD version of the laptop (UM3406) and it was easier than my previous 2020 model (um425) because they didn't hide the screws under the adhesive rubber feet.
