T-Mobile has Pixels 8a and 7a [t-mobile.com] for free + tax with a $500 trade-in credit (over 24 months). Similar to the
Pixel 8 for $100, upgrades qualify, no new line required, 4 upgrades max per promo code P706. Go5G, Magenta, or ONE plans qualify.
Pixel 8a: $0 + tax
Pixel 7a: unknown, not available online
This deal is available through all T-Mobile sales channels: internet, phone, retail, kiosks, etc. Upgrading through Sams Club and Costco will get your $35 activation fee waived and a $75 to $100 bonus gift card per upgrade.
Ask for the $500 trade-in promotion by referring to
Smartphone Trade ID240206, Promo Code: P706 [t-mobile.com].
Cheapest trade-able phone for the full $500 credit would be
a Samsung S9 for $90 [ebay.com]. Trade-ins must be in good condition (turns on; no water damage; no screen cracks; and in my experience screen burn and scratches are acceptable).
This deal is for existing T-mobile customers with qualifying plans to upgrade. There are better deals for new T-Mobile customers, like
4x iPhone 15 + Essentials plan for $100.

I believe on my account (at least) you can just add a line and get either the 8 or the 8a for free and then cancel the original line. If that doesn't work I'm just gonna leave T-Mobile and buy the phone when it hits $350. The 8a is a downgrade from the 6 slower charging, cheaper build weaker battery life and no reverse wireless charging and smaller screen no way I would trade it for that. I'm either gonna get this phone free or just get cheaper service personally. Def not signing a contract and doing a trade in

I'm on their old One Military Plan too so I guess this is a way to get more money from not changing to their more current version.
Is this deal worth it? Also when does the deal expire?
If I am reading this correctly? :::
I buy a Pixel 8a for $500 spread out over 24mo
They give me a trade in credit for my old 6a of $250 spread out over 24mo
And I get a $75 or a $100 Costco store card for doing it in a Costco ? Can I do it online through Costco or over the phone with Costco 833-428-1765, or do I have to physically go into a Costco store?

So to answer the question of whether or not you have to go into the store: I don't think so. Most of what the CS rep did was accessing account info on the their tablet which seems like it can be done over the phone, with a couple caveats 1) she took a pic of my driver's license,
2) she inspected my trade-in-- mostly just to get the IMEI and check the water damage indicator, but she did not collect it. She said when the new phone gets to me, I'd use the same box to return the trade-in and they'd do the final inspection for credit. So I'm not sure there was anything special that happens in store.
