Do yourself a favor and get it from Walmart on sale. $12 for a 3 year warranty so you can exchange it anytime you want (and stick drift sets in quick with my death grip). Highly recommend.
I've had two series 1 controllers and two series 2 controllers. All failed eventually in some way. The last one I had bought from Costco and they kindly gave me all my money back when Microsoft refused to do anything at the thirteen month mark. I bought a DualSense Edge instead and that's been working great for about fifteen months now. If you buy this controller, I highly recommend an extended warranty with it.
Everytime these deals come up I mention if anyone is getting this you better get a warranty. Something on it WILL break at some point. The controller is such a a great feeling control and I love the paddles but buttons will become unresponsive. My RB button only works 50% of the time and I mapped it to a back paddle for the last 2 years

I ordered one, and it arrived damaged. Verizon refuses to replace and directed me to MS for support through their warranty -- which is expired because verizon bought these in bulk 1+ year ago.

You can just return it, or register it with MS and then contact them about the warranty. They will update it and you will get the year from your purchase date.

We ordered one for my 14yo son last week and it came on Wednesday. New in box, no issues, no drift or faulty buttons, etc. Thanks to this thread I was able to reactivate the warranty over the phone, and then once that was done I bought two years of extended warranty from my Microsoft account for $19.99.

I feel pretty good about it, especially with the warranty (though I forgot to ask about a deductible), but I'm always extra cautious whenever he's spending his own hard earned money on something.

Did you get your warranty extended like everyone else was able to? From Microsoft? Smart ass...

What number did you use to get through to an actual human being at microsoft who helped you fix the issue?

Also - where exactly did you go in your Microsoft account to extend the warranty by 2 more years? I never saw that before on my old controller

On your Microsoft account under devices registered it will be an option if the warranty is still valid.

They call you. On the support site one option is request call back. It'll come from an 800ish number.

Verizon site is broken. I am signed in, try to add the controller to cart, and have to sign in again. Keeps cycling.

The other person who replied to you is right. That's how it worked for me, too. Hope it works out for you.

Hot deal, for anyone saying just go to Walmart or Target to buy it @$150 so you can get their warranty..... you are wrong.

Get it from Verizon.com and buy the extended warranty after purchase from Microsoft Store.

But if I recall, I was able to purchase using guest checkout. No sign on required.......

It's defective. Verizon has to accept refund without penalty within the time limit.

MS will update the warranty time if you show them your purchase info.
