Just buy a Roku Ultra or Apple TV. I did with our Samsung 85QN90A and the Roku turns the set on and off, no need for the Samsung remote. The built in smart chips are always mid tier and low on ram. They work great for a year or so, then a hard reboot is needed to clear them.
Nice price on this set. We have a TCL 65" 6 series that's still going strong. It needed a TCon board replacement within warranty, that's it. It's at least 6 or 7 years old.
I've had 3 tcls, used 2 as monitors. All 3 eventually broke. Bought a hisense in 2017 and it is still flawless.

Samsung makes their screens in Korea but the TVs are built in china.

LG tvs outside of their oleds have garbage screens.

Most of the components on every TV are all sourced from China anyways. But I think I'll be avoiding TCL and Vizio indefinitely.

I have have our 65" model for around a year. Amazing TV in our VERY bright living room. Comparing it to my Sony OLED which is in our bedroom. It's a great TV, viewing angles I honestly don't notice even at an angle since I'm usually dead center on the couch.

Yeah, how else are you gonna get ads injected into your content? I got rid of my roku ultra 4800x in favor of a shield tv pro, and regret nothing. Good riddance.
Where do people get ideas like this? I've used Roku devices for years and years and they don't inject ads. The Roku Channel has an ad-supported tier - like pretty much everybody these days - but the devices just stream content.

I got the 65" in my office that I got super cheap but maybe i regret it. The OS is buggy. Random restarts too. It's happened twice in the last 10 months, so not frequent but it happens. OS is very slow as well.

Our LG 60-inch has been very impressive. Can't recall how old it is, but it cost $1500 from a slick deal. Guessing 15 years.
Sounds like you are not talking about a 4k tv?

Mine was a 60" from 2017, the picture quality was so poor that it was hard to tell 1080p from 4k, and forget trying to tell differences in variations of 4k or high vs low bitrate. Bad backlight uniformity, bad contrast ratio, dim image, washed out image no matter how much I tried to fix it, flat image with no depth, just terrible and rtings agreed at the time. Sadly I didn't check reviews before buying.

I sure hope newer sets are better, rtings says they are, they must be or nobody would be buying them.

I replaced it with a hisense u8g 65 and that was so much better, but obviously a newer generation of panel, and then bit the bullet and got an a80j77 oled and have not looked back.

After OLED it would be hard to accept less, I'm spoiled now, although I am looking forward to brighter oled panels or whatever the next winning technology is in whatever I get next.

I believe our LG is so old it is 1080p. Maybe they went downhill with 4k?

Yea, many of the early 4k panels were just junk. I should have known better, should have done my homework.

I had a couple LG plasmas before that and they were only 1080p but they were a better overall PQ than the early 4k LG LED.

How is it at night in the dark? Good blacks?
Blacks are fine. I've never owned an OLED so I don't have a tainted impression of black levels. I will say most of the TV I watch is streaming like YouTubeTV, which tbh the streaming quality is hot garbage so it is hard to judge. Disney+ probably has the best streaming quality for video, so that looks great. I don't watch a lot of blurays socan't really say there. PS5 looks amazing too.

Thanks for the links. Looks like this is just a Roku TV issue. Which explains why I haven't seen these ads using my Ultra. Bad on Roku if they stick with this.
