Had this since 2021 used daily, and it's been flawless.

The only thing it didnt have that I wanted was Auro3D, but I did all the research before buying it was the only item in this price point (original MSRP) that had things like HDMI 2.1, iDRAC, solid amplification, pre-outs, etc.

At this price its a steal.

I consider the A6A a downgrade, and it was actually the A8A that I was comparing it against, and it has its own large negative press and comunity feedback.

So take that for what its worth, the only thing I have considered upgrading to from here is a full high end pre-pro but I have not found one good enough yet to justify the upgrade.

3800 vs 4800 isn't a huge difference, unless you get the 4800 on a big sale

According to the audio science reviews (they use objective tests) the 4800 is recommended, while the 3800 falls short. in fact, the 3800 is a downgrade from the 3700.

Also, the 4700 is the same form factor (big and heavy) as the 6700, which means better heat sinks, better build quality. The 3k series is not.

I bought this at MSRP over a year ago. Solid receiver with decent power output. I have been very pleased with overall performance and the imaging is on point with decent speakers and room correction.

Is this a huge upgrade form a Denon x1600? I only have a 5.1 setup but this seems like a good deal

Bought this at 1100, and returned for an A6A at 1400. I was happy with the swap. That being said, this is a good price.
Good decision, I had to return mine too due to HDMI issues, and sound quality that did not impress me. There's reason why they are able to offer it at this price. Now Andrew Robinson may have a different opinion, but let's talk survival rate after 2 years of service. The price is certainly a big win for those looking at features included in the RZ50, but I would really love to know how many of the RZ50s make it beyond their warranty period.

Depends on what you're trying to improve what features are important to you.
This has many features the 1600 doesn't.
Thee biggest feature everyone is after with this is Dirac Live.

If that's the case for you, you're better off waiting for the 7100 to come back for $549, saves you $300.

Why should a6a be a downgrade, because of dirac?

From what I gathered a6a has more power, higher resolution DAC, auro 3d and no power limiting features (RZ50 has these restrictions). This is leaving reliability aside.

I am not sure about RZ50 specifically but from what I read, Onkyo typically can not set individual crossover for all the channels.

Pulled the trigger on this over the Onkyo TX-NR7100 in case I want to add an extra pair of speakers later (to go from 7.1.2 to 7.1.4 with pre-outs). Also I think it's prettier to look at.

I know Memorial Day sales start next week, but since everyone else has this at over $1,000 right now, I'm fairly confident it won't go too much lower that soon.

Dirac Live Full Bandwidth included is what attracted me to this device in the first place.

Hmm I haven't had any issues except that whenever I switch inputs the one my bluray is connected to is put as priority. I just mash the one I wanted until it eventually does the handshake. Only device i have that does this. Firestick 4k max,PS5 , Xbox Series X, PC, all work fine. I bought this from Bestbuy almost a year ago for about $900.00 new. Price matched Amazon around Black Friday. I really like this Avr. It's big though and weighs alot. I had to build a reinforced shelf for it and the 3 onkyo power amps I have connected to it. It's a great reciever.
