Good deal. Have one, good quality. 27" may be too long for some people. Review safety if your first time splitting. Depending on the wood wedge or a maul may be a better choice.

This is for splitting, not for playing around with smallish stuff. Anyone who actually splits wood by the cord, will want something this long. Is a great ax, especially at this price. Ive had mine for years, the handle is basically unbreakable, way better that a wooden one.

You can, it will just cost you. I have a Gransfors Bruks splitting axe that blows these out of the water (both in terms of splitting performance and edge retention).

That being said, it costs 5 times as much and I'm getting one of these from this deal so I won't feel as bad when I leave the other out in the rain or take it camping somewhere.

Ditto, on 1st use of my Hultafors axe a week ago the handle broke. Hope it not too long at 36" length.

Can I use this to slowly break down a tree trunk? Based on description it doesn't seem like that but looking for opinions.

Eh, I wouldn't. It's great for splitting but I think you'll just tire yourself out. Rent a stump grinder or drill some holes it in, pour in some kerosene, and start it on fire.
