I might get downvoted into oblivion for this, but I'll chime in with my opinion.

I have had poor customer service experiences with U.S. Mobile. For example, they lost my number for about 4 weeks during a simple port. The only thing that they did to make up for it was offer me $5 off for a few months. And, they kept bragging about how great their customer service was when they communicated with me. This issue was a pretty big inconvenience for me, and I was surprised at how poorly they handled it (given their supposed reputation for good CS).
I also find that they sneakily raise prices or take away features.
Additionally, their subreddit brigades anyone who raises valid complaints.
I don't trust them as a company and find that their CS cannot handle certain issues with any sense of urgency.
standalone plan not available yet
I am using Redpocket 200min/200M $30/360day plan on a Galaxy 6 LTE watch. It works standalone but I used a Samsung phone to set it up. Here's a previous discussion: https://slickdeals.net/f/17449506-360-day-red-pocket-prepaid-plan-200-min-talk-1000-texts-200mb-lte-month-30-free-shipping?attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse&src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

I have T-Mobile service for my iphone. And I want to get this standalone plan for my Apple watch. Now how is this going to be different than getting a watch plan with T-Mobile because T-Mobile would also provide a separate number for the watch line ?
It won't be, and to get it you'll probably have to join USM and it's only for their Verizon network.

Mine is $12 a month. If I use autopay it goes down to $7.
That's what I was seeing on T-Mobile's website also but if you get discount with autopay, might be worth it.

my two cents... we need, as individual customers, to have realistic expectations, when it comes to features and customer service.... I think generally speaking, the industry as a whole, isn't keen to provide stellar CS unless you have a commercial or fleet account.
If you go to an MVNO, by definition, you're a more cost-sensitive customer, and as such, a lower margin client for whatever provider you select. As such - I don't think it's fair to assume you're going to get the best service + the best features + the best CS.... At best, you could have two of these, not all of them.
Given the price point, and my personal (note emphasis on 'personal' - not reflective of all experiences out there) experience with US Mobile, I can confidently say that it's one of the better MVNO out there (especially with the ability to teleport to any of the big 3 networks). Their CS has also been extremely prompt to engage via reddit, phone, and email.
TL;DR: if you want a premium dealership experience, shop with Ferrari and Lambo, not Ford or Toyota. You'll pay evidently more.... but that doesn't mean you're getting a more reliable car in the end.....

Truth be told, I just discontinued it starting next month because it just wasn't worth it to me. Did some re budgeting due to job change and determined it wasn't worth it any longer. I had service on it for about 8 months, I maybe used it standalone without my phone 4 times total.

Just my opinion but I don't see service on a watch as worth it unless you're an avid runner or aren't allowed to have your phone where you often go.

Unlimited data? So I could pair my Apple Watch to my car and stream music via the watch's Apple Music app without any regard to bandwidth caps or having to download offline first? Sold!

stand alone watch is limited ..like no apps work on it. All stand alone watches have to be paired on family account as child device. You wont get any apps...while you set up yourself with a phone you can only be a restricted child account if you dont want a phone to share apps..It's a mess done by apple to force everyone have a phone no matter what.. If all you want is to get/make calls and send/receive texts than it works..

I dont believe so... that said I'm a huge fan of US Mobile. Their Warp/Verizon service is spectacular and their customer service is the best of the MVNOs I've dealt with. Pricing is also the best, in my opinion, at $25 for prioritized data
I have been using Warp service for a month. Lot of issue around DFW area so far. Many dead spots (including no service at all) and low data throughput at various places. Last I had service with verizon wireless was back in 2007. Have been with AT&T for past 17yrs due to employer paid wireless plan. In these many years, looks like Verizon has finally caught up with AT&T at delivering poor service.

Family was on Red Pocket GSMA tough, and they are happy with Warp.

Why not just use T-Mobile? I think they have a plan with similar price.
