I have this freezer. Bought 1 yr ago. Very pleased. It is not frost free, but I only have needed to defrost once this past year. I paid $198 at Walmart. Only caution is, inspect carefully as many reviews reported shipping damage. I did not luckily. I would buy this freezer again. I like that is front loading vs bottom. You can see the frozen items much easier.

"garage ready" is a subjective term - don't put a lot of weight into it. Make sure you check the climate range this unit can efficiently support (0-110 degrees F / -17 to 43 degrees C).

If you keep your freezing your garage, I suggest you insulate your garage. It helps with many things, including keeping heat from seeping into your house through the garage door and walls

A standup freezers is much better than a chest freezer in my opinion . My long game is to have a front drawer refrigerator that has no freezer and a standup freezer with shelves.

Yes, it does say this in the user manual. We live in mid west and this freezer has already withstood ~40 degrees in the garage. I'm not as worried about this and would go by the outlined temp on the listing (0-110). Worst case, I'll make a warranty claim or use extended coverage w my CC if this craps out

Got it 2 days ago, too dented to keep, have to return :/ . I've bought this freezer and 2 other ones from Walmart and I never had a problem until now, but I am in a much larger city now so idk if that matters. Will try to order again.

I feel obligated to chime in every time I see this deal. There is a freaking big chance you'd get one that's damaged during shipping, due to the way the freezer is packaged (or not). There's simply a thin layer of cardboard surrounding the freezer. In my case, it was 3/3 damaged freezer. I had to exchange twice until giving up and be stuck with one that's 20% dented both on the front and side. It was horrible dealing with Walmart + FedEx for the exchange. They ended up never picking up the last one I intended to return. Read the negative comments. As with another SDer, I will not do it again.

Worth it otherwise? This will truly just be a garage freezer for overflow/larger size items that need to remain frozen. I don't really want dents but not a deal breaker if it works well

I have a chest freezer used to store majority of items for longer periods of time, while items more frequently needed are stored in this one. Ice built up easily on the top shelf, but didn't seem to affect the operation. If you don't mind the dents, this is a pretty good price for what it is!
