Kobalt 80V is made by Greenworks and this is their lowest blower model. The Greenworks 80V blowera were available on SD for way less in the past.

For example, Here [bestbuy.com] is a higher CFM model (750 vs 630 in OP) for the same price from Best Buy (was available for $170 about 1 month ago). Or this 800 CFM [costco.com] from Costco for $209 with 4ah battery. And Greenworks batteries are compatible with Kobalt (and vice versa) after light mod with Dremel tool.

So this is not a good deal at all.

Kobalt makes good leaf blowers. That said I hate that they now have THREE incompatible battery standards: 24v, 40v & 80v. My yard equipment is Kobalt 24V and it takes two 24v 4Ah batteries to blow the leaves from my average size yard. The 80V 2.5Ah battery seems like it would still deplete fast.

You need to compare the ah (capacity) not voltage.

I think you mean watt hour.

We've had the 80v Kobalt line since 2016 and everything runs like new. The only maintenance we've had to do is replace the mower blade (or sharpen) and bar and chain oil on the chainsaw. Just purchased a blower and weed whacker for our house in Florida.

Had our 80v 5 years or more. It won the online test for moving a brick across a driveway. I use it 99% of the time vs the backpack. 4.0 ah is the way to go & keep this 2.5 ah as a backup. Great blower.

I'd 2nd the comment about the battery upgrade needed, although for short term jobs it does fantastic work of quickly moving leaves and any other dislodged objects. If you can tolerate waiting 30-45 min for a recharge the provided battery is sufficient but it's a monster. Nonissues with weight as it's balanced well enough.

I have this blower. The thing has been going strong for a couple years. Turbo mode is way more blowing power than you could ever need. The rear suction can be a little problematic if you wear loose shirts as they will get sucked to the screen sometimes. That's why the newer models have the suction on the sides now.

I've had this blower for a few years now after owning a Kobalt 40V blower for a couple of years before that. I upgraded most of my yard tools to 80V (that actually needed the extra power for me to even consider using them). I have to say that this 80V blower worked GREAT for maybe 2 years until, for no reason that I can comprehend or find any other examples of happening to anyone else online, the blower just started working at about half of its original power maybe 1 year ago. I rotate through 4 different batteries with my 80V tools so it had nothing to do with a battery issue. I was using it one day, put it down to change out the battery and when I picked it up and started using it again, it sounded far weaker and blew at maybe half capacity. It has been consistently stuck in that state ever since.

I am pretty handy sand disassembled the entire blower just a few weeks ago in the hopes of finding a part failure or some reason that it could have started operating like this. I didn't find a single issue. I didn't the time to clean the insides and made sure the fan turbine was lubricated. After I reassembled it, I could have sworn that it worked right again for maybe 5 minutes and then began to experience the same power limitation as before. I could have just been overly hopeful and fooled myself into thinking I had actually fixed something and then had reality set in.

Overall, I do really like my Kobalt yard tools. I have a wide range of their stuff and enjoy them. I don't think most any of them can compare to the raw power of traditional, gas powered yard tools but, for my case, I love the low maintenance of recharging batteries over fuel and oil required for traditional yard tools. I also worked at Lowe's for a few years as a product merchandiser and got everything at excellent prices so it was very worth the investment for me.

Even at half capacity, I do still use this blower quite often. I have been looking for a solid deal to replace it with another 80V Kobalt or Greenworks blower but I just can't consider this price to be overwhelmingly good. I haven't bought any 80V Greenworks yard tools yet but I do know that, like many tool companies out there, Kobalt and Greenworks are owned by the same parent company and with some small modifications made to three 80V battery shells, their batteries are completely interchangeable.

Knowing this, I'm still kicking myself for not taking advantage of the recent refurbished Greenworks 80V blower deals that were posted for Best Buy that came with a free extra battery.

As an extra note to my already ridiculously lengthy review, I will also mention that pretty much ANY battery powered blower will chew through batteries like no other tool does. If you think that this deal is good for you and this is the only compatible 80V battery you will own, please be aware that most people will require at least two batteries in order to really get the most out of something like this. The best battery I had was the 5aH model battery that came with my Kobalt 80V push mower but, unfortunately, that battery recently stopped accepting àny charge no matter what I tried to do to fix it.

Feel free to reach out with any questions that I can help answer

nice review! I had the problem with the weak blower, but it was isolated to the battery...new battery and it was like double the power. unfortunately the battery was $155 on Amazon. It is tempting to go with the combo deal and get a new blower, but then I would just grab the 80V 4A from Costco instead.

It's good to know that my kobat lawn mower 's 80v batteries are compatible with my greenworks 80v blower. Very helpful. My greenworks pro 800 CFM leaf blower bought from Costco is very good for ArloCatcher's gutter cleaning kit. But it came with a 2.5 ah battery. One charge cannot last long to clean all gutters. My kobat from Lowe's has two 80v batteries. So helpful information.

Why Kobalt is made by Greenworks? Outsourcing?
