Before anyone says otherwise, ASUS never acknowledged the MicroSD card issues be fixed

Expect that to break eventually and you are SOL once warranty expires

Good number of folks near me trying to offload theirs for 300-350.

Probably can talk them down too.

I'd be iffy on trusting any FB marketplace posts for the Ally. Even past the people trying to scam through the facebook shipping trick, you'll probably find that a decent amount of the people listing for $300 and saying it's an extreme are lying. Ask for some kind of identifier that it's actually an extreme before investing any time into trying to pick it up.

In my experience, most people will try to list their handhelds at or near 'sale' MSRP, then lower the price after you haggle a bit, but not enough to be worth forgoing any kind of protection you get when buying from elsewhere.

You should be able to get one for $250 or even a bit lower than that. I bought a Z1 extreme for $350 on FB a year ago when new ones were going for $600 and open box ones at BB were in the high 400s or low 500s. There were a bunch of them for $350-400 on FB Marketplace at that time. I would expect them to be in the $250 range now. These things drop in value like rocks as there are so many options in this space how. And the potential to be stuck with a unit with an SD card issue doesn't help their values.

It really is remarkable how bad local selling has gotten since Facebook took over Craigslist. Just the dumbest and worst people on both sides of every transaction now. I tried to sell an iPad and it was just a million fake buyers, ridiculous lowball offers and people asking me to give it away to them for their kids lol. I gave up and posted to swappa instead.

I might migrate to Swappa for the same reasons, but if I remember correctly, you need to install the app to post anything. And my previous experience wasnt great when trying to sell high dollar value items. I should give it another shot though.

There are plenty of handhelds coming out of China running Android with OLED screens that are well reviewed (ex: Odin2 Portal that's on indiegogo right now). There are no major brands though making handheld PC's though with OLED's other than the Steam Deck right now though.

Got this $350 open box good a few months ago. Runs most games fine. Highly intensive games not so much.

Just picked one up on marketplace for $260 with accessories. Well worth it at that price.
