I just posted this in the old thread, I wish they would combine both to help people interested.

I finally got the 3.4 set up. For context I'm coming from an Onkyo TR-NX 818. It had 130 watts per channel vs this at 100. My first day setting it up and playing around with it I was underwhelmed. I purchased the Klipsch RP 1200SW at the same time to pair with my KSW 15. I've had my KSW 15 for over 24 years and it has served me very well. Switching to a two subwoofer system has been amazing. At first that was the only thing that had impressed me. I was really second guessing the purchase of the Integra.

This morning I got up early, moved some furniture around, and played with the sub woofer placement. Then I ran Dirac for the first time. I did the full placement testing with the supplied mic. WOW … everything came alive. I can't wait to try Dirac with my laptop, then I'm going to buy the minidsp UMIK-1 mic.

I wasn't expecting to be wowed this much, especially coming from an Audyssey XT32 set up on my old TX-NR 818. I know it will progressively get better redoing it with the laptop, than the new minidsp mic. The bass has really tightened up. Original I didn't have both subs parallel from each other, so that helped also, at least with some standing waves. I don't feel the need to invest in an Emotiva Basx A3, or an Outlaw amp anymore. I probably will once I upgrade to 5.2.4, but for now I'm set and satisfied.

If you're on a strict budget and need 9.2 channels then the Onkyo TX-NR797 is a decent AVR for that price. Just be aware it was released in 2019 so lacks some newer features. No Dirac Live, eARC, pre outs, ALLM, VRR, QFT, QMS, etc., just to name a few. If you don't need 9.2 then the Onkyo TX-NR6100 (7.2) for $399, at Amazon, will have newer features including Dirac. For an AVR with 9.2 channels there's nothing that can touch the Integra DRX 3.4 at this price for all that it offers.

Maybe if I was strung out on meth and trying to pawn it for Jellyroll tickets.

There is no reciever at this price with 9 channels, pre outs, HDMI 2.1 on all ports, and Dirac built in. Also higher grade components compared to similar Onkyo and Pioneer models.

I would say it depends on features you need, importance of preference to Marantz signature & future use(ie future proof). I assume you're considering this because of Dirac & cost. If it's the top priority, pretty hard to beat. You lose subwoofer correction/integration & any future proof though. If Marantz is high priority, a great thing is you now can get Dirac with it!Marantz gets the option to both Dirac RCs(DL & DLBC) & highly rumored to get their new ART in the near future. This does not get any of it. You also gain 4 independent sub outs(dual mono here)& an RC to take advantage of them, 11 channels, all assignable, all independent preamp mode. The Cinema 50 is the lowest model that offers this and has been down to $1399 refurb, new $1999.The great thing is the new A1EVO for Audyssey. People are quickly finding out it's a game changer! It pretty much gives you all Dirac results & you don't lose subwoofer correction/integration.All for the cost of the $20 Editor app!Yes it's more expensive but you get much more for that cost. Makes it a much better pre amp imo.If you're a Marantz fan, it is no contest!!!As they say you get what you pay for imo.
I'm considering it because I can no longer use the HDMI switcher on the SR8001 since it doesn't support HDMI 4k. As of now, my 4k sources plug into my Samsung TV, then I pass audio via toslink to the AVR. So I don't get Hi res audio, video and audio sync, etc.
I figured with the Integra as my pre amp I would get these features, but wouldn't have to give up the Marantz amp that I love...

I would suggest looking for OB/refurb/even used with the features you need.
This really only makes sense is if Dirac is a high priority.

I'm with you on not wanting to give up Marantz!
Always liked them and had that $1399 price on the Cinema 50 was for new, would be worth the extra cost over the 3800 imo!
It's closer to the 4800 than the 3800 imo.

If you want to stay in the Marantz camp then I would suggest the Cinema 70s recertified directly from Marantz when the 25% off coupon is active ($675 w/free shipping). Use your old AVR as an external amplifier since it has 7.1 inputs. You'll be able to enjoy the newer features without breaking the bank while also keeping the Marantz signature sound you're used to. The Cinema 70s doesn't support Dirac but you're not using it now and are happy with the sound, otherwise you would've had the itch to upgraded sooner. Some people prefer not to use room correction since it can sound more clinical.

You could buy both the Cinema 70s and Integra DRX 3.4 and audition them in your home using your speakers and AVR as the amplifier. It would probably cost you $50-100 in return shipping and restocking fee, depending on which one you return. That's a small price to pay to find out which one you prefer and if Dirac makes a big enough difference to exit the Marantz camp.

Does anyone think this would be an upgrade from a Denon AVR-X3300W?

Also, does this support VRR? Currently my Denon doesn't seem to allow my PC or PS5 to enable VRR on my TV.

Thanks for any insights.

You keep saying that but I finally have proof that what you're saying doesn't pass the "smell test":

The Cinema 50 retails for $2500.
The Denon 4800 retails for $2499.

How can the Cinema 50 be "closer in performance to the 4800" for a dollar more?!!!
Marantz is the premium line of Denon and that is why:

The Cinema 50 retails for $800 more than the 3800
The Cinema 40 retails for $1000 more than the 4800
The Cinema 30 retails for $1000 more than the 6800

If you don't understand this relationship b/w the clones, I really don't know what to tell you!

Very much a lateral move from the 3300 to the DRX3.4 power-wise. You'd only be upgrading for Dirac and VRR (which may be worth it to you)! However, if you have more than one SW, more viable options these days would be the RZ30 or 3800 for starters.

Yes the obvious is 2 extra channels newer features(ie VRR) & Dirac Live.

If Dirac is a want/need I would highly suggest giving A1EVO a try.
It gives you pretty much the results of Dirac!
It only cost you the purchase of the $20 editor app.

Here is a full comparison and info on A1EVO.

Lol oh sorry if I misspoke.

I'll ask again, give us your impression of the 3800 and Cinema 50 after comparison/audition?

If common sense doesn't tell you that the Cinema 50 doesn't offer $800 additional "value" over the 3800 (on paper), then there's a $20,000 cable I'd like to sell you!

Smart people know that the paper specs bring you to the table. Once that is good, the rest is gravy!

LOL another silly analogy!
I'm pretty sure those smart people understand we're already at the table, poured the gravy & now tasting!!! Facepalm

Smart people also understand that's pretty important, for some the most!
Might want to try it sometime.
