my money would be on the 5600 as it has both the larger cache and 4.0 support.
The 5500 is extremely power efficient. Both my son and younger daughter have systems with these, my son has a 6700xt and she has a 12GB 3060. Both run very well with 32GB ram.
I have another system that my oldest daughter had been using which had a 3600 with a 6500xt in it. I swapped the 6500xt out for a 5700xt.
Microcenter has had the 5500 at about this price for a few years now.
Great CPU for "just a workstation," good enough for lite-gaming (like Roblox), and honestly good enough for a lite gamer who is okay passing up a small percentage of the latest and greatest titles or doesn't mind occasional framerate drops.
With a great GPU it can play the majority of things and play them fairly well. But as I mentioned, comparable CPUs are beginning to cross over the threshold of being "too slow" for the suggested CPU requirements in a small number of brand new AAA titles.
As others have said, this will bench in games very similarly to a second-hand 3600 that can be found for $50.
Just be warned: it is a Zen3 CPU and a lot of AM4 motherboards will require a BIOs update to support Zen3 CPUs. If your motherboard does not come out of box with Zen 3 BIOs (new stock usually will), you may need as far back as a Zen 1 CPU to update it.
