Can you stream videos from an Android phone to AppleTv?
I hate that my shield gets unresponsive on wake up sometimes, I hate that the Paramount plus app needs a stop and restart everytime, I hate that the X app needs a login every time and finally the remote: I hit the netflix button way too many times. Wish I could disable that hard coded button or use it for something else.
Streaming to AppleTV requires Airplay on iPad, iPhone, Mac devices. Android uses Google to cast. There may be a 3rd party app you could try and use, but it'd be YMMV.
For wake/unresponsive, check how many apps installed, and how much space is used. Clear some space, clear the cache of the Shield and unused apps. There's other things too that could be the cause for this but it's usually related to space and apps installed.
The problem is the Paramount app, not the Shield. Could be related to a space issue also.
The X app? For the old twitter network? Not sure about that app as I don't use it.
To remap the Netflix button, looks for "Buttons Remapper" app.

And it's still getting updates!
Name another 10 year old device still getting modern software updates?
But as time has passed by and my use of Plex has diminished, I find myself preferring my AppleTV 4K 2021 over my Shield's.
A lot of that has to do with how spammy the Shield's UI has become.
In the beginning, it was simple and visually appealing.
Now it is cluttered with ads and suggestions. Some of them can be disabled but others are forced to be there whether you like it or not.
At least with the AppleTV the UI is simple with zero ads being forced on you.
Let's not forget about the remotes.
The Shield 2015 remote sucked. The Shield 2017 is almost perfect with the only issue being the Netflix button being too easy to accidentally trigger.
On the AppleTV side, the original Siri Remote sucked with the stupid trackpad navigation. But the current Gen2/3 Siri Remote is perfect.
The other thing that has started to annoy me with the Shield is the tug-of-war I have to play between it, my AppleTV, and my TV. Every time I go to wake up my TV using my AppleTV remote to also wake up my AppleTV, the Shield wants to take priority and forces my TV to switch from the AppleTV input to the Shield's input.
Honestly, the only real gripe I have with the AppleTV is the Keyboard UI layout sucks.
Yea, it crashes occasionally but everything does. I've been using it for 5y and have few complaints.
I use mine for PLEX. It finds my NAS no problem and plays virtually any file I throw at it, including with lossless atmos. And what else can upscale like it.
I do need another device though. $50 for an Onn 4k Pro is very tempting.
Not saying the problems weren't solvable, but it sure wasn't seamless. You eventually learn the quirks.
Tip for anyone that gets one:
Don't update it immediately each time a new update gets released. Wait a bit then look at the forums to see if any major issue occurred.
Does Amazon Cube/FireTV (ATV) or AppleTV allows for Kodi use?
I know it was possible years ago with ATV, but it seems Amazon has been removing features and abilities to sideload or run different launchers.
4 x $140 = $560
Meanwhile, my 2015 Shield TV came out with overpowered hardware for the time and it still outperforms the newest Apple TV.
1 x $200 = $200

You can run Kodi on basically any Android OS devices (Shield, Amazon Fire Stick, Onn, etc.) and Apple TV. Stremio will run on Android OS and on MacOS, but not on Apple TV.

I would think then if that's a memory issue, Nvidia should issue an update ASAP. Can't believe it is such a simple problem.
And thank you for the hint on the remapping the Nerflix button. I'll look into that.
Yeah, if I can't stream home videos from Android to Apple Tv, Apple Tv is not an option.
If you're an Android person and want Chromecasting capability, or you want lossless audio, buy a Shield. It's still the highest-end Android client.
If you're an Apple person, or don't need lossless audio, buy an Apple TV.
