$10 off retail isn't much, but I've been waiting on it to finally drop from full retail price.

Is the new version worth the upgrade from the 2017 model?

No really unless you need the 4k up-scaling. Higher price for no remote. As a side note there's a new update that kinda bricked my Android MX Player Pro. It keeps crashing with no file found or exits to home. Fckling annoying.
I've heard a recent update made the 4K upscaling even better. It can somehow even upscale from 480p.

idk about the 480p upscaling but they support upscaling up to 4k 60hz now with the new update

The Shield is one of the best streaming boxes you can buy. It has better hardware specs than all the other stuff out there and it is good for some gaming too. That being said, if you're happy with your current devices and don't play games, there's probably no reason to upgrade.

Aside from the A.I. upscaling that a previous poster mentioned, the latest model also supports Dolby Vision and can also do dolby atmos in Netflix.

I have a Roku, 4K AppleTV, FireStick4k and a chromecast. Is this thing worth getting?

What are some benefits? I've been wanting to do the steam streaming games from my PC to my TV, but the devices I have now struggle with it. May be more my network, I'm not sure. This thing good for that?

BF is not too far along. Is it likely that prices on these will be better then?

The lack of HDMI 2.1 on this 'refreshed' model is a bit concerning as well as a lack of the VP9 codec support from YouTube on their 60FPS 4K which is surprising to me for Androids flagship streaming device. I'm curious to know how this compares to something like the 4K Firestick as well... sideloading apps at least still seems simple enough via ADBLink with this guy. Reviews on the detail improvements over standard HD streams sound impressive so long as you have an HDMI HDR cable with at least 22.38 Gbps bitrate compatibility.
