I stripped the handle paint on mine with citri-strip. The knurling is actually decent now.

I was able to escape and avoid working out. Not very good of a trap.

Got this during the last deal, and I highly recommend it. I really like the "stand" that allows you to easily load weight on it. My last trap bar didn't have that, and I'll never go back.
it stays standing when placing or removing 45 lb plates? doesn't tip?

Anyone know if the sleeves they have listed are the actual size? In for one either way for $69 why not. Thanks OP

It tips over to the side with only 1 45 on the other side but once you start loading it up beyond one plate per side it doesn't tip. like others said the knurling sucks and it's a thin diameter handle far down from the standard 28-29mm.

This is a much nicer offering than some in the past. It is not a bolt-together job but proper 45lbs of metal. I wouldn't go repping 500 on it, but who knows?
A 3/8th bolt has over 500lb of shear strength Why does everyone make most gym equipment out that it won't handle typical human lift weights when it all does ! Sure not an apples to apples comparison ( different metal grade and longer lever arm on the trap bar ETC) but it makes a good visual to see just how much metal is needed to hold significant weight!

Oh no, I mean that I've gotten a trap bar in the past on a deal that came in several pieces for a similar price. This is a single piece. The collars bolt to this, but there's a continuous rod through the collar. I endorse this deal if you need/want a beater trap bar. And I have bent many "1000lb capacity" bars in my lifetime - not through abuse, just lifting human-lift-weights. They didn't shear and rend themselves in two, but they sure bent!

This was the bolt-together deal. Thing was awful.

The sleeves on this thing are looooooong. Imagine doing a walking lunge or a farmer walk in your garage.
I'm glad I got the earlier version with 9 1/2 length. Maybe they revised it because not a lot of bumper plates could fit on.

The older model had a lot of negative reviews for short sleeve length I guess they overcompensated with this one. That being said if you need to do a farmers walk outside is a great place for that! If I had enough room to do a farmers walk I have enough room for another piece of equipment in my gym Stick Out Tongue

Yeah, I've filled up the 9.5" sleeve especially with 55lb bumper plates plus iron weights on each side. The most I can get on this bar is 495. I'm thinking about this one with 17" sleeves but afraid of how big it will be.

Got this a bit cheaper a few years ago. Has held up well. Not for heavy lifters, but plenty good enough for most, me included.

Great deal. I got it during the all time low of $59.88 last year.Fit and finish wise, it almost is like it was made in a high-school shop class. Sloppy welds and rattle-can black paint. But is certainly safe enough for heavy lifts. Strong welds, just sloppy. It is a true 45 pound hex bar, so easy to calculate total weight which would be the same as if you were using your 45 pound barbell. Easy to stand up and load bumper plates, then drop it down.Only real negative I have for it is that it takes up a lot of floor space, if you have limited space in your gym.
17inch sleeves is a little insane for a bargain bin trap bar. If you're lifting 3+ plates just get a real trap bar.
