Its because of type of solder they use. I stuck mine in the oven after following other peoples suggestions and it worked. Been working just fine for the past few months now.

edit: Had it for 1.5 years then started to boot loop, then disassembled it and stuck it in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, after letting it cool down, reassembled it, and it's been working ever since.

look up how to repair these using an oven.

My MA1 lasted a little more than a year. I wouldn't buy one unless they fix their reliability. I'm using an AAwireless now. The addition of the companion app is worth it.

Had mine for almost two years before it was stolen out of my car. I barely used it as it took forever to connect, no issues with connectivity or anything but the unit is just slow at startup. Now on AAwireless 2 and jesus its night and day much faster, better in every way, if I didnt have this I would cry. Dont even get me started on changing the DPI, game changer.

My AAwireless broke after about 2 years of use and constantly disconnected. My MA1 has now been going strong for a little over a year. YMMV on how reliable these are, probably very car and unit dependent.
Seems like a great price though for the gamble.

Mine lasted 3-4 years before it boot loop. For 35 bucks, it's whatever. I think there are some 20 dollar Chinese versions.

So just like a lot of you, my first one died in a year and Motorola sent me a second one.

Now I don't use it in a hot car and it has lasted almost 2 years. I think the design has heat sinking issues. So it's fine in my car at storage temp, but if I actually use it, it'll destroy the device in the dead of Summer. This approach has survived in Maryland and in Florida

Mine has worked flawlessly for 2+ years. I bought my wife one, and hers was always flaky, and then one day it would no longer connect. I found a Reddit post advising to disassemble it and pop it in the air fryer for 6 minutes. This worked perfectly, and now hers functions without issue. I'm not saying this should be something people have to do, but I'm offering advice in case they want to try it out to fix theirs. Google "Is my Motorola MA1 bricked?" and find the comment by kiwil01.
