I have this. I recommend also buying a spare battery, as the rechargeable battery's charge lasts about a month and the battery takes several hours to recharge. It's easier and ensures continuous availability to have a spare battery charged and ready to go.

Yeah, agreed. I moved away from myQ for garage door opener with an open source solution and much happier. I'd advise against getting locked into this ecosystem which wants to charge you monthly, unless you need the specific features. I would think most people would be better off with a surveillance camera system (ring, reolink, eufy, etc.) and a dumb keypad if you want to see who is opening your door.

Seems like an awful product. The non video key pads last for years

No way in hell I'm recharging this all the time.

Thanks man, Could not pass up an extra battery for $25 after GC.

Also this Charger is good to hot swap batteries. Looks like the new ones are USB-C and the old were micro-USB, but with this charger it does not matter as it charges through the pins.

Note the opener may only support 1 keypad so there is no point getting more than 1. Also there are solar charger designed for this to keep it running continuously.

price keep dropping
I assume new version will be out soon and this will be $25 or so.
the hard wire kit is expensive.
Within couple years, we should be able to get a better products for $40 ~ 50.
I would say wait unless you are in hurry

I have one of these without a subscription. Video wise it doesn't record but can view live video any time. I put it on eco mode and battery last like 3-4 months. If your wifi goes out these keypads STILL work to open/close garage door!! Also the feature to close door on the way out by pushing the close button on this keypad is very convenient. This keypad is CLUTCH even without subscription especially with eco mode on.

Looks like a third party makes a decent powered alternative to the battery charging.

If 3 months in eco is true then this is OK… my dumb keypad seems to eat batteries despite little use and I have to replace and sometimes reprogram about 3x/year.

Really annoying aspects of the MyQ garage opener make me reluctant to recommend them to others. Sounds like this model might be similar.
First, they use an odd size, and more expensive (relatively, complared to using a couple AA or CR2032) CR2450 battery. Next, the electronics, at least with the two sensors I have, regularly complain about the battery being low, EVEN when it's still over 3v! Tried removing them and resetting them and it just keeps happening. Ended up just ignoring the warning and 6months later the "low" battery is still running fine. Finally, when the idiot system either loses track of the sensor (happens every so often and needs be power cycled) or if the battery really does fail, then it refuses to function. I mean what's the point of having a warning on the door closing in the first place if it won't even run when you want it to. At the very worst they could just make a warning the state is unknown and then default to run the beeping alarm every time if the system can't tell if it's open or closed.
All that being said, I'm still about evenly split on buying one of these myself at this price.

I have this for 6 months now, I charge the battery once every 2 months.. it's probably the best in the market unless there's a better product i didn't know about.

The benefit with something like this is the ability to quicklyAnd easily issue multiple codes to the leopard through the app. If you turn off the motion detection, IR, and some of the video features you can get much much longer runtime.

Battery lasts a couple months or more and takes less than a minute to swap out.
