Doordash is giving $20 for $200 bestbuy gift card with limit upto 2.
I bought couple of $200 bestbuy gift card from doordash for $360. So effectively the price came down to $410 + taxes.

I'm not talking about storage for documents/etc, but for applications/libraries--any kind of software that's going to use the power/ram on this thing (even 16gb) is gonna take some storage space (I'm thinking graphics software, music editing, video editing/etc)...a usb 2/3 storage drive isn't going to enable the use of all this power. If you're just web-browsing, an M1 will do just fine for many more years I would think.
People complain about what apple charges for storage upgrades, but to get equivalent performance via thunderbolt it's the same or more $ from what I can tell.
or maybe I just really need more application storage than the average power user?
I've been debating picking one of these up as I'm still using a 2019 Intel iMac. What I'm probably going to do is hook the M4 mini up to the iMac, use the iMac screen via screen sharing, and use the iMac for most storage (the iMac is modified and has a 2TB NVME and a 2TB SATA so lots of storage internally).

also, 99% of people are not going to need more than 16gb on this thing. i have edited plenty of huge videos together in premiere on my m1pro with 16gb ram with no issue.
