Is this a good place to start this series if you like JRPGs?

Superb game at a superb price. With that being said this is a good place to start in the series as Infinite Wealth improved on a lot of the gameplay from its predecessor Yakuza: Like a Dragon.

No. Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the place to start, because this is the direct sequel. However, you should still grab this, because it's a great game and a great price, and you can often get the first Like a Dragon for dirt cheap in either physical or digital format.

Bad advice. It is a great game, but not the place to start, since it's the sequel...

I still have this unopened from a $30 sale months ago. Backlog is getting crazy though, so many good games the past couple of years. Hopefully I can get to this over the holidays.

FWIW there's a recap at the beginning. But this is a heavily narrative driven game so you should start with the first game since you might not get a lot of the context in Infinite Wealth

Both games are a blast. I like them way more than the button mashing beat-em-up Yakuza games.
