SAME PRICE AT BEST BUY! Try to support Brick & Mortar stores when possible. I'm sure Amazon has it at this price because Best Buy did and Amazon leached onto the price to take away sales and kill the competition. Without competition the prices wouldn't ever be lower. This is a great player and I really enjoy not having to check DV setting each time I put in a disc like I do on the Sony 700. However, I had the new Mission Impossible 4K glitch out like crazy on the Panasonic and none at all on the Sony. Some people say the Panasonic sometimes has issues playing Paramount 4K discs for what it's worth. I rarely experience problems on either player though, but wanted to share that experience.

Unfortunately looks like this is the new $350 sale deal.

If you're on a budget & ok without DV.
The 420 is probably the better buy.
It provides same performance as this minus DV.
Hopefully a sale pops up for it, hasn't in a while though.

If you have a decent projector the tone mapping from the 820 is well worth the cost. I have it paired with a BenQ HD3560 and it looks fantastic.

This is a huge leap of an upgrade. Dolby vision, hdr optimizer, and incredible upscaling for DVDs and regular blu rays

I bought one of these during last year's Black Friday sales and it is phenomenal. This is the last of the great UHD players that is somewhat affordable. Sony has discontinued the X800-M2 and Magnetars are very expensive and don't offer any improvements in image over this Panasonic.

FYI the 420 has the same tone mapping(optimizer).
As a matter of fact, there's not much performance difference other than DV, which is irrelevant for most PJs.

Depends who you ask...almost everyone who isn't a billionaire (#47) would say nothing is.

Future proofing is more important to many. And Dolby Vision is a part of the current and future. Not having Dolby Vision is a huge deterrent for me. I have a DV TV now. But even if I didn't, my next one likely would.

Best Buy has it at this price which I bit on. Hopefully Best Buy lowers the price even more but I doubt they will.
