Extremely "meh" considering the M2 16gb deal posted for $599 or the M4 deal at $750 (less with Paypal CB).

Just not worth it considering how old it is and how much support is left for this. Spend a little bit more and get a newer model with more years of support.

I think 8GB is too low, to be honest. My wife has the m1 with 16gb, and it's still great. Only regret was the 256gb HDD. I just picked up an M4 16gb with 512, and it's minty as hell. I'd spend a little more and score something with at least 16gb, unless you're literally just using safari and watching YouTube - which at that point, get a tablet or Chromebook

Helpful correction: m1 has an SSD which is faster than the SSD on base m2

I'm not saying the other deals aren't better, but this is the MacBook I've been schlepping around for years and it's still fast enough that I didn't bite on the $750 M4. And that includes some Flutter dev. It's a nice box.

I'd probably steer you towards the $599 M2 at the very least for the extra RAM, but nothing wrong with saving $100 if you know what you're getting.
