Is this better than Winix 5500?

I have 2 of these. You can routinely buy them new for under $130. This is absolutely not a good price. Furthermore, these air purifiers are very overrated and will do nothing to significantly reduce dust or dander, despite their claims, unless you run it in manual mode at level 2 or 3. The Winix 5500 series is substantially better, if for no other reason that because it has an actual carbon filter. Oh, and it's also cheaper. I have 2 of those as well.

I have 2 of these and 2 Winix 5500. The Winix is much better. It's cheaper and it has an actual carbon filter. Carbon filters help reduce smells, but Coway can't even remove dust, let alone does it remove smells.

Oh I see this one has just coated sponge-like filter. I wouldn't buy filter without actual carbon pellets.
Although, where do you get the winix 5500 or their newer models for less than $150?
I just ordered 2 x coway 400s for main living room and den, I need smaller units for 2 bedrooms, I thought about costco winix 909 but its $200

LOL I can totally relate to this. I have a winix 5300 and it works great, but during the really bad wildfire season a couple years ago I bought 3 morento HY4866 purifiers. One of the reviews suggested those things were BS because the top vent got large pieces of dust around it over time lol. I've been a fan of them because they're cheap, durable, and while the filters aren't the cheapest they are not expensive and the filters have loose charcoal inside them. But sure as shit, mine get dusty on top lol. And the one I have in my bedroom hasn't done a damn thing for the dust.

Do you keep the plasma on the winix 5500? If not turned on, does it decrease its effectiveness?

Great product, but I wouldn't pay over $50 for it just cause I found a perfectly good one at a thrift store for less than $20. Just needed to be wiped down and have filters replaced or cleaned.

Is the Winix carbon filter the same on the d360 as the 5500? Looking for an air purifier to get rid of pet odors and allergens.

These don't help much with dust, but they DO help immensely with dustmites. Many of us are allergic to dustmites, and these are a game changer. I own a few Winix 5500's, and the carbon filter is mostly a gimmick. It's nowhere near enough carbon to make a difference for more than a few days. Unless you're changing the filter out once per week (would be ridiculously expensive), the carbon filter is pointless. The Winix and this Coway are essentially tied for performance, but the 3rd party Winix filters can generally be found cheaper than the Coway filters.

Doesn't a cheap filter defeat the purpose?
