That seems like a high price for a 3-year-old model.

Sorry I am not very saavy when it comes to TV specs, but I've looked at the specs for this TV and another one here: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/h...ku/6621488

and I can't really figure out the difference. Does someone up on tech know the difference?

This deal was already posted. Its an ok deal. If you need a tv right now then go for it. However, if you wait, you can get a better tv for less. The TCL 98QM7 has been under $2K a couple of times in the past couple of months and it has 3000 nits vs 1500 nits on this Hisense. The Hisense have more reported issues. I'm going to wait.

The U8 pictured above should be the superior tv of the two as the 8 series in Hisense lineup is above the 7 series tv's. However the one here is a year older than the QD7. I haven't compared the two personally but the U8 should be brighter, have more dimming zones, better processing and motion handling than the QD7. Again, this U8 is a year older than the QD7 so I'd imagine the QD7 to be a lot closer to the U8 since it's a year newer and has newer tech in it.

I think either you have your facts wrong or you are living in a parallel universe where what you say is actually true.

Feature TCL 98QM7 (2024) Hisense U8N/U8K (2024)
Peak Brightness Extremely high (~2,400 nits) Superior (~1,500–3,000+ nits)
Contrast/Blacks Good, but can have slight blooming Excellent, superior contrast
Color Accuracy Good (can be overly vibrant) Highly accurate/saturated
Gaming 144Hz, 1080p@288Hz, 288Hz VRR 144Hz VRR
Reliability Generally higher, less bugs Higher risk of firmware/board issues
Value Excellent price-per-inch Higher price, better picture

Why not buy a projector instead, if you want a 100" screen size? Much more portable and prices seem to be dropping steadily.

Projector's are great for dark rooms like basements but not so great in a room with lots of windows with natural light.

I just noticed that i compared it to the 2024 version... not the 2023 version which is being sold.

The 2024 Hisense U8 Series (U8N) offers a massive upgrade over the 2023 model (U8K), featuring significantly higher peak brightness (up to 3,000+ nits vs. ~1,500–2,000 nits)
and double the local dimming zones for improved contrast. The 2024 models also feature superior gaming (up to 165Hz/144Hz), better AI picture processing, and an improved anti-glare screen

even in the dark room they are crap. You turn on the lights in the room and the entire picture quality degrades dramatically.

Btw. The 2023 model is the best. I have it. Amazing, 24 they changed systems. Look around and ask. 23 model blows the newer model's doors off

Speaking from my ownership of the Hisense U8H and U8N...the step up is not " massive"
The "N" is a better set...but there is still some picture processing issues in the "N"
I will say Hisese has gotten a lot better with banding though since the " H" version of the u8

But still expect some quirky Hisense issues..E-arc and CEC control can work sporadically

True, but if you turn on the lights then it ceases to be a dark room Wink Big Grin

Just bought this model last night with free delivery at my local BB here in Summerlin. Las Vegas, NV for $1799.99 plus tax. Looking forward to it since I was originally going to buy the U7 model and have it priced matched to Walmart at $1999.99 Thankfully I saw this deal instead!
