When you receive the simcard, you have the option to install the physical simcard or you can download an eSim (preferred method).
For some reason the online activation using eSim didn't work and I needed help with tech support, so that took about an hour start-to-finish to port over my phone line. In the past it's only taken 15-20 minutes to port in my number.
I'm only temporarily doing this as the $25 per month standard rate is way too expensive compared to other promotions going on.
Side note, if I could do this again, instead of Boost, I would have "temporarily" ported over to US Mobile. We did this for a family member and they got 30-day free trial and it was done 100% online. Right now , they have a plan for $5 per month (prepay $60 for an entire year) if you come over from Helium Mobile.
