Another slick deals front pager
Even after almost 6 years on the market..I still say its worth the $599 if its at least as sonically capable as the Onkyo RZ50 I used to own
Its somewhat amazing Onkyo is getting all this time out of these same models. I have never seen this phenomenon before
At this point they certainly have long captured their development costs and can sell them aggressively priced. Probably a good thing for a section of the market like slick deals
Actual owners seem to be very happy with these models
I suggest reading through the AVS owners' thread for information from them

If you're after Dirac Live, this is least expensive option right now.
Community Reviews
The TX NR7100 stands out as a budget friendly way to get Dirac Live, with onboard room correction and 7.2.2 support making it especially appealing at $599. The price is often framed as the cheapest current entry into Dirac, and the sound is described as strong enough to replace older Onkyo, Denon, Integra, and Harman Kardon receivers. The main tradeoffs are its age, lack of pre outs, and parallel sub outs, which limit future expansion. There are also repeated concerns about warm running, power limiting with low impedance speakers, and occasional reliability or recovery issues.
Common Questions (5)
It is the cheapest Dirac AVR in this class, but the RZ30 and RZ50 add useful extras like pre-outs and, on the RZ30, DLBC and independent sub outs. If Dirac is the main goal, the 7100 is the budget pick; if expansion and bass correction matter more, the RZ30 is the stronger upgrade.
No pre-outs are included, and the two subwoofer outputs are parallel rather than independent. That makes it less flexible for external amplification or advanced bass management than newer models like the RZ30.
It can be a challenge with true 3-4 ohm speakers, especially at louder listening levels. It is generally considered fine for normal listening with typical 8-ohm home theater setups, but low-impedance speakers may be better matched to a higher-tier model or an external amp.
Yes. The receiver can reduce output on low-impedance loads without a clear on-screen warning, and restoring full operation may require unplugging it and plugging it back in. This is most relevant with 4-ohm or lower speakers; true 8-ohm nominal speakers are less likely to trigger it.
Yes. Dirac Live is onboard with no extra charge, which is the main reason this model is still attractive at $599. It is also described as the least expensive way to get Dirac Live right now.

I have exactly your experience on the S760H. They're awesome with A1 Evo AccoustiX.
1) Reduces power considerably at 4 ohm or lower resistance input.
2) Does this w/o any indication, including any notification on the web interface where some people think it's a protect mode (it's not)
3) Functionality not fully restored w/o unplugging the AVR and plugging back in.
If you're running true 8 ohm nominal speakers, you're probably fine. Check your speaker impedance curves if there's any doubt!
This limp mode has been known since 2022 on ASR. We're only talking about it now because people really want a receiver w/nice specs for cheap.
Yes better to go the 3900 since the SINAD "mode" was not good on the 3800!
This from the guy that claims Dirac is too complicate, "advises" you have to have it but doesn't find it "beneficial" to own it!!!
I would ask him to clarify how he knows those 8ohm speakers caused this "limp mode" but we all know the MO!!!

I'm still content with my device but I doubt my next upgrade will be Onkyo.
