laugh out loud My Targets are pretty easy going down here. I'm guessing that if the cashier at HD sees it at a penny they will tell you they can't sell it to you, I'm not quiet sure yet and I'm kinda afraid if I ask a question in there I'll get a "lurker" comment or told to "RTFM" so I'm trying to go back and read but it's not that easy to find the answers I want.

Anyways the GF was happy at the free (aka .25 cent) flip flops as it seems Old Navy isn't doing their $1 sale this year, not that she needs more as I still believe there is 5-10 new pairs in a tote somewhere from last year.

How is everyone doing??? Humid here!

if you find the HD answers, pls share them here. i started following the thread last yr but stopped w/ all the target holiday clearance. now i'm following it again but haven't really seen anything interesting yet. i was looking back a bit and see i missed some good stuff even if it wasn't a penny, so i'm being more diligent now since so many threads have dried up like sns, walmart, target, cvs clearance, etc.

so far i've gotten 1blk flip flop for .50 and a blue and a silver pr for free. dunno why, i have several flip flops i've barely worn from the c9 q and some other q a couple yrs ago.

I will. Everything seems to be drying up. Not sure if it's lack of deals or lack of posting. I know I slowed down a bit, I'm back to posting the Walgreens info but (and I know it means nothing) even then I feel like no one takes much time to rep a thanks, used to be you'd get 500+ per thread starting now I barely get 100.

I still find the Target main thread here too busy for me, too much clearance stuff for me as it's too much ymmv. Always wished the clearance was in it's own thread.

BTW what's the "sns" thread?

you might like the totally target blog instead. since we have double q's up to .99 up here, and only p-fresh which is more like convenience store prices, i do most of my grocery shopping at shoprite and mostly do clearance at target.

sns = stop and shop. free int'l delights non-dairy creamer starting friday to thurs w/ doubled .75 ip from c.c celestialdigs has started to do the coupon matchups for sns also which is great.

which supermarkets do you have around you?

I have a bunch of blogs in my reader program.

Stop n Shop............duh............ None of them down here yet, before the GF's grandmom passed last year we would hit up the one near her when visiting if it was a good deal. I only have Shoprite, Acme, Aldi, & Bottom Dollar right now. Pathmark closed up and Giant hasn't made it quite here yet though I'm expecting a store in the next year as they are expanding near me.

I do good deals at Target and we do clearance shop but mostly grabbing what we feel is a good deal for us but even with 5 stores nearby it's so sporadic on the good items so it's get whats there.

does your shoprite double fully up to .50 or .99?

last wk the hamilton stores reverted back to .50. that sucks for them. but something is still better than nothing.

I was wondering if any of you shop Aldi's? I have ended up doing quite a bit of shopping there since the deals at the stores seem to be lacking. I have found several things my family doesn't like or won't switch to. But in general it seems to be pretty good. I was mainly wondering about their meats?? Do you find them cheaper than walmart/ target? Is the quality okay? I have been too afraid to try any of it.
Any suggestions?

Thanks!
I really like Aldis. Double your money back guarantee on the items you buy there (IIRC), but I've never pushed it. Only returned something I hated and got my $$ back.

My SIL and I buy eggs, milk, produce (need to go when the ad first starts for best selection). rydergal has started buying string cheese there and she likes it. I used to buy the Grandessa Chicken sausage with sundried tomato and basil, but they don't carry it anymore. Have to have a quarter for the cart (you'll get it back when you return it), no frills, they have a meat special the first day of the ad (Wednesday here), bring your own bags, or pay for bags when you checkout. Mostly non-name brand, but the white chocolate covered pretzels are yummy and I like the chicken egg rolls as well.

I would suggest you read the wiki in the Aldis thread. There's also an online what to expect [aldi.us] (no credit cards, etc) when shopping. They don't take coupons except their own. They don't price match (but you can use their ads to price match). Same overall company as Trader Joes.

Most products have 3 barcodes on them, so that the cashier doesn't have to "find" the Barcode to scan it.

I don't shop at WM, as I don't have time for standing in line to checkout. I don't buy meat at either of them. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for the Aldi's info.

TN..Thanks for the Link to the Aldis thread. I looked earlier and couldn't find it. We have had a store here (well 30min away lol) forever. I used to shop there alot when I had a daycare years ago. But lately I have really found it much better/cleaner than I ever remember. I had been ad matching my items at WM. So far that has been pretty easy to do. But seeing as how the actual store is a block away from WM, I have been just stopping by there to get things. It seems there produce is pretty good. Seems to get rotated/bought quickly enough that it doesn't look old. (as it used to years ago)

With couponing I have always been able to get name brand items cheap/free so my kids have been spoiled by that. But with the lack of deals, I have been having them try some of the Aldi brand items.
So far there have only been a few things they say are not even worth eating. lol Good thing DH is not picky, as he will, at least, eat it till it is gone and then I know not to get it again.
As far as meats, I was mainly interested in their ckn breasts and ground beef/chuck. We eat mostly pork which is usually cheaper ad matching.

Right now I am ad matching a local store at WM and getting bnls country pork ribs and pork steaks at $1.49lb. I don't know how that compares to others but around here it is super cheap. And since we grill out almost every other day, Pork seems to be our cheapest option.

Milk is my main bargain! It is $1.99gal while wm and dillons are around $4.

However, with the price of gas at $3.99gallon and having to drive 30miles one way, I try to make each trip worth it!

I am hoping to get there today so I may just try a cpl packages of meat.

Nope, any Shoprite's south of Trenton only goes up to $1! Acme will and has no limits but their deals have sucked for about 2 years now. Used to be a time where Acme way seriously paying you to shop there, paid for the GF's graduation party for her Masters with MM OYNO's from Dove body wash, we had a build your own shishkabob with Sirloin, pork loin, chicken and all sorts of veggies.........ah those were the days. I acyually went into an Acme for the first time in a year a month ago to get some free Quaker rice cakes, brought back memories!

Not sure if you or anyone in your family is car handy but if the car is a little older or hasn't had a full maintenance done lately replacing the air filter, fuel filter, and cleaning out the MAF and all the air solenoids can give you another mpg or two. Just did all that to our van and I jumped up about 1.5mpg! Our van is a late 90's though and it really needed the tune up but it helps that and keep the tires filled up.

I've never eaten ground pork (unless it's breakfast sausage), so I'm no help.

I don't mean to offend you, but are you of foreign descent (ie, family whose culture is not from the US)? I ask this only because I've never bought ground pork and my Mama never bought ground pork, but I know two families that practically live on it.. One is Filipino and one is Asian. They both eat a lot of rice too, and my family bought rice (and it was instant rice) only when making one casserole dish.

Remember, I'm not an adventurous eater, and my Mama's meatloaf doesn't have any meat but beef in it.

OMG You're missing out, gotta use the beef/pork/veal mix, so much more taste, same with meatballs!
