Pizza delivery guy didn't accept my tip. Was he trying to send a message?

I was visiting San Francisco recently and ordered a pizza and salad from a local restaurant. The delivery guy was in his mid 40's. I only tried to tip him a dollar, but he just said no thanks. I said are you sure, and he declined the tip again. He was friendly and respectful about it. After he left, I started to think that I offered too small of a tip. The bill was around $20, and I just gave my normal Domino's tip. I was thinking maybe he was offended by such a small tip. I should have tipped him around $3. I've never had someone not take money from me. Is a dollar tip offensive to a delivery guy?

If you dont want to give the driver a tip, no one is putting a gun to your head. Thats your choice if you want to be a cheap ****. I will guarentee they will remember you in the future, that's for sure. But again, you could always take your fat *ss over there & go pick it up if you rather not tip a driver.
But you are living in a fantasy world if you think drivers deserve a 25% tip, or even a 20% tip. Calling me a cheap ass because I don't tip as much as you think is appropriate is ridiculous. They are being paid to do a job. Anything they get above and beyond their paycheck they should accept as a bonus and be grateful for it. As the customer I have no responsibility to pay the driver extra to do a job he is already being paid to do. If you believe otherwise, good for you. To each his own. I hope you enjoy the view from your pedestal.
I'm sorry but that seems nuts to me.

To each his own, I guess. Me personally, I don't mind paying for a service that keeps me from getting in my car and picking it up myself. Plus, when they see my address on their pizza run then obviously the better tippers are delivered first.

So much easier.
P.S. - I'm not objecting to tipping. If you want to leave a big tip and can afford to do so, more power to you. I'm just objecting to people thinking it's OBLIGATORY to pay someone that much extra to do a job they are already getting paid to do. That's all.

The one that gets me is the curbside pick-up at some of the chains, where for just bringing the order to the car the waitresses want a tip. Sorry, call me cheap, but bringing a bag 15 ft doesn't earn you 15%.
Or am I putting too much faith in humanity?
