Fall 2011 new TV shows (((new update about Awake on post 185)))

So what do you think about the new shows so far?

I like New Girl, it was a bit awkward and slow at the beginning but by the end of the show, I was hooked. There were some funny jokes and good casting. I love the Small spoiler:

Two Broke Girls
, I made the mistake of watching a short clip online about a week ago and thought it looked terrible but DH set it to tape. Turns out the short clip was the least funny line in the whole show, the rest of the show was witty and downright funny.

Unforgettable
, meh. I'll watch one more because DH wants to, but wasn't that fussed over it. There were a couple of really annoying points in the show. Huge spoiler:

Free Agents
, really liked this one. Good cast and a really good pilot. Just hope they can keep it up without it becoming tired.

The Secret Circle
. Typical trying to cash in on Twilight show, only with witches. Couldn't get through one episode.

Same thing with Ringer, had to turn it off part way through the pilot.

Some shows I'm looking forward to, haven't aired yet....

Awake (no air date at this time but the trailer is really interesting and the lead actor is one of my faves, he's British)
Grimm (trailer looks good, even though the premise sounds silly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh3rFsv_WSE it airs 10/28, date changed)
Pan Am (Like Madmen in the air?Dontknow airs 9/25)
Person of Interest (the trailer looks really good, interesting premise airs 9/21)
Prime Suspect (there's a British Show by the same name, so I guess they're doing an American version Dontknow Airs 9/22)

Think I'm already hooked on Person of Interest.
Me too. Best new drama of the season.

Quote from Intrepid. :
I'm not sure if Wayans leaving is the reason, but yes, I've grown quite disenchanted with the show now, although Zooey being in it is enough for me to continue watching it.
She was enough for me at the beginning. But now she is so weird in teh show, that I am more annoyed by her than anythng else. That, and Schmidt being a total douchebag, unlikable character. Damon Wayans was the only saving grace for it, and they replaced him with some other guy.

I'm waiting for Grimm. The trailer looks very good. Doesn't start until 10/28 though. Annoyed

I'm waiting for that as well. Also, that Once Upon a Time looks like it may be interesting. Plus I've been a suscker for Lana Parrilla since Boomtown

Quote from Zoe Moon :
Did you watch Buffy, back in the day? If so, the guy who did it is the one behind Grimm.

I felt the same way about Pan Am. Yawn
Which Buffy guy? I know Sean Hayes is involved.

The project is from Jim Kouf (Angel) and David Greenwalt (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), with executive producers Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner.

Agreed. The main girl is kind of a bad ass with regards to how she plots her revenge on each person.

DH had taped Last Man Standing. He watched about 10 minutes of it and turned it off. He did the right thing.

I watched the first episode of Revenge. It wasn't bad but it didn't really make me want to watch more. I'm having a hard time watching anything that's not a comedy.

I won't get to see any more Free Agets because it was canceled. The not as funny Up All Night will continue - http://www.thestreet.com/story/11...-risk.html .

Quote from Kabn :
i now very rarely start watching shows until they've lasted at least a season and a half. three reasons:
  1. t's so easy to get back episodes now.
  2. it keeps me from getting invested in a show only to have it cancelled abruptly, meaning no closure/decent finale.
  3. i avoid shows that see high critical/viewer praise for the first half of the season, but spiral down in the second half and make those who loved the earlier episodes watch a bunch of crap in the hope that things might get back on track (see: Killing, The).
an extreme example: i'm just trying out Rescue Me. of course, every once in a while, a Boardwalk Empire comes around and i jump on after the first episode.
I agree completely in principle, and I've done that in the past. But sometimes when I have free time I still check out some new shows. I waited on shows like HIMYM, House, and Lost. Once I heard they were good, not only did I jump on them but I caught up in a hurry, and that was fun too. Having the first two seasons of HIMYM to go through at your leisure is like finding a stash of porn that your high school crush made back in the day with a guy that looks like your twin. And of course we've all loved shows that got canceled way too early.

But the problem with the theory is, many of those shows are worth watching ANYWAY. I thought Studio 60 was canceled way too early, but I'm glad we got the 22 eps that we got. Same with Firefly, there isn't a Firefly fan on the planet that's pissed he got into that show. I don't go out of my way to watch new shows but I'm not going to actively avoid them either. If someone tells me to check out a new show, or if the promos tickle my fancy, I tend to check them out.

I caught the first show by accident and am enjoying it. I'm not a Stargate, Lost or anything of this genre but I thought it was interesting.

Pan Am started out with an intersting premise but WTF is up with so many plots and so much stuff going on in the first shows? Too many crap going on that I don't care about. They could have taken it like Mad men and taken a few episodes of trips to Europe with CIA crap and issues at home with their personal issues. Now they have Cuba, JFK, and the islands? Lost me by trying too much too fast.

I'm glad that with the Breaking Bad season over, I've got The Walking Dead to save me. I've been waiting for this show for ever. I've never really watched Zombies but last season got me hooked and in the mean time, I've watched alot of zombie movies and even started playing Plants vs Zombies.

Anyone have any opionions on Kelsey Grammer aka Fraiser's new show Boss or Enlightened on Showtime?
Oh how I miss my United States of Tara on mondays and Terriers.

I watched the first episode of Terra Nova. I liked the concept of them setting up a new civilization in the past, but the dinosaur chase scenes could get old fast. I'll watch a couple more, but if it's just a series about dinosaur monsters I'll end up taking a pass. I have to wonder how they'll play out the reverse Planet of the Apes thing (both of the old guys were named "Taylor"). Nova + Terra Nova....etc.

Yeah yeah, I know terra nova, new land (or something close to that.) incognitowhee
