This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

[snip] And I know this is so trivial compared to the heartache some are facing here, but has anyone had to buy tires recently? [snip]
Oh, and hubby got cleared for the part-time job!! [snip]
Yes - we've bought 2 tires in the past 2 or 3 months (6 total in the past year! stupid flats!) The price was insane - and different each time. Walmart is typicaly the cheapest around here (sad), but the first of the last 2 tires was around 80ish, and then the last one was 98! I couldn't believe it. If the darn thing wasn't leaking air and needind a fill up every day, I would've let the darn thing go.

Yay for hubby! I pray it takes a lot of stress off of you and your family. Is there anything you need to help stretch your budget? I can send you some coupons if I have some that you are looking for. Let me know!

*sigh* Dh's relatively new (less than 1 year old) computer konked out this morning. Won't even boot into safemode. Confused

GRRR - I think I'm getting sick. Frown Started sneezing and getting a runny nose.

Ohhh - question - is it too early to buy the asparagus for Thanksgiving? 1.99/lb is a great price around here, but I'm afraid it'll go bad or get too woody if I get it now.

*sigh* I too just had to buy tires...not fun at all. I called around and even found someplace local that was cheaper than WM for the same tires. It was $168 for 2 new tires with mount and balancing (which is probably included anyway)

I am not havin a good day either. I got the go ahead to switch obs but now my IMs are worried since the ob i picked (the only one who will routinely deliver twins vaginally) is a one person practice and they have all these what if's (what if hes delivering another baby, what if hes on vacation) so back to the other practice I go. I have been going back and forth between tears and anger all morning.

I have just given up though and now I will get used to the idea of being chopped open. I am so sad. I never though it would turn out this way.

Sorry i needed to vent....

Hmm... my oldest DD just came to tell me that we will want to avoid going to the super target we usually go to for the rest of the week. Apparently there's a new movie premiering at the theater in the same plaza and they've got everything closed off and lots of security?? I think she said it was new moon or something like that. GRRR... If I have to walk to ST, I will!

Aww, sorry you are having a hard morninghug I agreee that you should be able to go to the OB that you choose. And I have seen lots of twins delivered vaginally at the hospital I used to work at. There is no reason to assume you must have a csection.. with that being said, sometimes it is an emergency and must be done. My last one was... but when it came to that point I was more than ready to do anything for the health of the baby.
Do the IM get the final say? do they know that even if the doctor is by some chance on vacation, that another doctor is available to cover? With my last child, my OB was in practice alone.. Just the doc and midwife. I loved it so much better than the big group practices because I felt like a person and not a number. They knew me personally because I saw the same people each visit.

Wave I do them if no one else has claimed. Although I've yet to win anything. Sadwalk

OK, so I think I posted before that I've been freecycling a lot of junk to get it out of the house. So yesterday I posted some stuff and got a bunch of responses.

One of them was from a woman who said she could really use the stuff b/c she was a single mom on disability.

At the bottom of the email it said: Sent via Blackberry.

Teehee While I'm sure there are lots of scenarios under which a single mom on disability could have a Blackberry, it's also not exactly the scenario you want to bring up when you're trying to convince someone you're really down on your luck and stuff. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

We have spoken two different Obs at our practice and BOTH said they "prefer" to do c-sections on twins because it is "easier" and "most of the time you will end up needing one anyway". The WILL NOT deliver breech and you cant even try to deliver vaginally if baby B is breech because they said that in that case you will have to have a c-section anyway, they wont try to turn a breech baby. That said I have spoken to many other mothers who delivered at the hospital I will with the Drs I will and said that they push c-sections big time because of the convenience factor. The hospitals c-section rate is right at 40% and the Obs is almost 60!!!

And Ims get final say. It is in my contract.

I had a one Dr practice with a MW with both of my kids too...it was VERY rare for anyone to have a c-section at that practice, in fact I only know 1 person who did and it was because of placental abruption where the babys heartrate was really low from blood loss.

My first pregnancy was an emergency section. I pushed for four hours but DD was upside down and she wouldn't go past my pubic bone. Once they caved and said c-section the nurse whispered in my ear, "it's ok honey, this doesn't make you less of a woman." I was flabbergasted. I never for a second doubted my feminity or my mothering abilities because I needed a section. My second was twins and I was told it would be safer (because of the risk of uterine rupture) to have a repeat section. So, I did. My last pregnancy was a singleton and again I had a section. You never know how a pregnancy is going to play out, especially with others involved in making the decisions. I'm sorry it won't work the way you planned but c-sections are not all that bad (you're sliced, not chopped laugh out loud) and the safety of the babies is the most important.

My girlfriend's sister is like that. She just got approved for section 8 low income housing and whipped out her iphone to tell her boyfriend. I was like EEK!

It is kinda sad that you dont get the choice about the doctor you must form a relationship with.. and even sadder that the doctor does csections based on "convenience" As far as the breech goes.. lots of times one twin is breech because of the way they are positioned together, but as soon as baby A is born, baby B turns into position. But, they should know that too well.

If it is medically necessary, then I am all for getting cut on.. my csection itself wasnt too bad.. I suffered more from other complications than I did the actual csec.

Frown So sorry M2C and Teri *sigh*

on a completely un-important note: My Zhu zhu hamster is dead on arrival. I wanted to get batteries in it so it would be ready to wrap for dd's Christmas present (trying to get everything done much sooner this year. last year, I was grumpy through December Blink) and undo those horrible ties so she wouldn't get frustrated on Christmas morning but he will not work. I'm so sad Frown No chance of finding another one! a sweet SD'er found and sent me this one. I tried to call the 1-800 number but they were closed. Sadwalk
That's 2 people now who said that their hamsters never worked. We got one for DS' bday in September. The dog keeps carrying it around and it will still make the annoying noises but doesn't move anymore. I haven't tried to replace the batteries b/c honestly, it's annoying. But I wonder if it's a common problem with these things!

Yeah, that does suck. I agree, have the OB talk to them b/c it's not like the OB doesn't have a backup plan b/c if he didn't, no one would have a baby through his practice.

It is amazing how much convenience has become a part of the birthing process now. When we moved here, the docs were pushing scheduled inductions big time so that you could plan the birth of the baby. Apparently, most births occur Tue-Thurs here. I dunno... for me it was shocking because I just figured babies come when they come. I was sooo mad with my youngest - my water broke, but I wasn't really having strong contractions so they put me on pitocin. That is the worst feeling stuff in the world for me - super sharp and horrible pains. I couldn't think.

Then, because it wasn't convenient for the doctor to let it progress, they came in and backed me off of it so he could do something else, and then upped it again when he was finished. (this wasn't my original doc because my doc wasn't on call) The whole birthing experience here was very odd and annoying for me. It probably didn't help that we had moved when I was just a month and a half away from delivery. It kind of limits ya.

Next time (God willing), I'll do more research and find a better doctor/hospital. Can't seem to convince hubby that it'd be fun to do a home delivery... laugh out loud

ETA:

I looked up New Moon. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic) I guess I'm one of the few folks that just don't care for this series. Apparently there are supposed to be celebrity appearances here. *shrug* Should be interesting.
